A candy filled cake is fun, easy and looks really impressive. Let me show you how to do it in this quick video!
The first step we need to do it to make the cavity in the center of the cake where the candy will go.
I'm starting with four 8 inch cake rounds and I'm using a large round cutter for this.
Now, cut out the center of all of the cake layers except for the top. So if you are making a cake with four layers, only cut a hole in three
And don't throw the cut out away!! This cake can be used to make a small smash cake or cake pops!!
Now stack the cake with buttercream.
But, before you put the top layer on, fill the hole with chocolate candy.
Then add the top layer and ice like a normal cake.
Now, let's decorate! I am going to add rainbow sprinkles to the sides.
Place a bowl under your work area to catch any stray sprinkles. Hold the cake in one hand and use the other to apply the sprinkles. Then the remaining sprinkles can be returned to the original container.
You can also use sprinkles to write a message. I am using a letter cookie cutter set.
Gently place the cutters on top of the cake. Don't press too hard, we just want it to rest on top. Now, using a spoon, slowly add sprinkles to the inside of the cutter until the buttercream area is covered.
Lastly, remove the cutter and add a light dusting of sprinkles to the top
Now check out how good that looks and it was so easy!
