How To make Orange Layer Cake
BH&G HERITAGE COOKBOOK:
1 1/2 c Sugar
1/2 c Butter or margarine
1 tb Grated orange peel
2 1/4 c All-purpose flour
2 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Baking soda
3/4 c Cold water
1/4 c Orange juice
4 Stiffly beaten egg whites
Orange Filling (below) Orange Buttercream Frosting -(see recipe) In large mixing bowl cream together sugar and butter till light and fluffy. Add orange peel. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Combine water and orange juice; add to creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients, beating well after each addition. Fold in egg whites. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pans. Bake at 375 till done, about 30 minutes. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pans. When
cool, spread Orange Filling on one layer; top with remaining layer. Frost with Orange Buttercream Frosting. ORANGE FILLING: In saucepan combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Gradually blend in 3/4 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup water, and 2 slightly beaten egg yolks. Cook and stir over medium heat till thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat; stir in 2 tablespoons butter till melted. Cool. -----

.flour 1/4 cup (35g)
.cocoa powder 2 tbsp (15g)
.sugar 1/4 cup and 1 tbsp (60g)
.milk 2 tbsp(30 ml)
.oil 1 tbsp (15 ml)

3 tbsp (18 g) orange zest - packed
1 ¾ cup (350 g) granulated sugar
2 cup (250 g) all-purpose flour
¾ cup (65 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp (1 g) espresso powder
1 ½ tsp (6 g) baking powder
½ tsp (2 g) baking soda
¾ tsp (5 g) salt
⅔ cup (158 ml) vegetable oil
2 large eggs - room temperature
1 cup (237 ml) full-fat buttermilk - room temperature
2 tsp (10 ml) pure vanilla extract
1 cup (237 ml) orange juice - freshly squeezed
Chocolate Orange Buttercream Frosting:
1½ cup (341 g) salted butter - room temperature (3 sticks)
5¼ cups (604 g) powdered sugar
¾ cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp (5 ml) pure vanilla extract
2 tbsp (12 g) orange zest
3 tbsp (51 g) freshly squeezed orange juice - plus extra as needed

How to Make a Chocolate Orange Layer Cake | My Food and Family
Watch the Kraft Kitchens take a classic combo of chocolate and orange and layer it into a gorgeous, rich and delectable chocolate orange layer cake. The secret ingredients? Orange zest and an easy chocolate glaze topping.

What you need:
1-1/2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
6 Tbsp. butter, softened
6 cups powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. orange zest
12 drops orange food coloring
2 baked chocolate cake layers (8 inch), cooled
3 oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate
1/2 of 8-oz. tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (Do not thaw.)
Let's make it:
1. Beat first 5 ingredients with mixer until blended.
2. Cut each cake horizontally into 2 layers. Stack on plate, spreading 3/4 cup frosting between each layer. Frost top and side with remaining frosting.
3. Microwave chocolate and COOL WHIP in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Cool 15 min.; spread over top of cake, allowing excess to drizzle down side. Keep refrigerated.
