2 c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 c solid vegetable shortening
1 1/2 c granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 large bananas, mashed
1/4 c buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c chopped black walnuts
the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Clean, flour, and grease two 9-inch cake pans. The flour and baking soda should be mixed together in a medium bowl. Leave it alone. Cream the shortening and sugar with an electric mixer for two to three minutes in a separate large bowl. One at a time, whisk well after adding each egg. Add the vanilla, buttermilk, and mashed bananas. Adding the flour mixture All ingredients should be blended after mixing. Add the black walnuts and stir. Fill the prepared pans with the batter, and bake for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cakes comes out clean. A 30- to 35-minute process is involved. For ten minutes, let the pans cool on a cooling rack. Cakes should be taken out of the pans and completely cooled.
Frosting
1/2 c butter, softened
1 c packed light brown sugar
1/3 c heavy cream, plus more as necessary
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
1 (16-ox box) of confectioners sugar
2 c finely chopped black walnuts, for garnish
The butter should be melted in a small saucepan. Add cream and brown sugar. Cook until the sugar is dissolved over low heat. This takes around two minutes. Vanilla is added after the heat is turned off. Place in a large bowl. Confectioners sugar should be gradually added with an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth. To achieve the ideal consistency, add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream at a time if the frosting is too thick. The frosting is used to sandwich the two layers together. Frost the cakes outside. Indent the sides of the cake with the chopped black walnuts. Black walnuts should not be substituted with English walnuts.
