How To make Apple and Honey Scones
2 c All-purpose flour
2/3 c Wheat germ
2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Ground cinnamon
1/4 ts Baking soda
1/4 ts Salt
1/4 ts Ground nutmeg
1/3 c Butter or margarine; cold
1 lg Tart apples; peeled and chop
-ped 1/2 c Milk
1/4 c Honey
Topping 2 ts Wheat germ
2 ts Sugar
1/4 ts Ground cinnamon
Recipe by: Country Woman March/April 1997 In a large bowl, combine flour,wheat germ, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. combine the apple, milk and honey; add to dry ingredients just until moistened. Turn onto a floured surfac, knead gently 5-6 times. Gently patt dough into a 9-in. circle, 1/2 in. thick. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over dough. Cut into eight wedges and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-18 minutes. -----

RECIPE
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup apple, finely chopped
1/3 cup organic sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup non-dairy milk
1/3 cup neutral oil
1 tsp. lemon juice
Glaze:
1/2 cup organic powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp. non-dairy milk
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. To a bowl, add flour, apple, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir well. Add non-dairy milk, oil, and lemon juice. Stir until a smooth dough forms. Divide in half, and shape each half into a disk. Cut each disk into four wedges. Separate, and reshape if necessary, before setting on a lined baking pan. Bake 18-20 minutes, and let cool. To make the glaze: to a bowl, add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and non-dairy milk. Whisk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled scones. Makes eight scones.
