How To make Fig Quick Bread
Ingredients

cup
figs, california dried
2
cup
flour, sifted
2
teaspoon
baking powder
1 1/2
teaspoon
salt
3/4
cup
sugar
2
cup
flour, whole wheat
4
tablespoon
butter, or margarine
1 1/2
cup
milk, sour
1
teaspoon
soda
2
each
eggs
3/4
cup
walnuts, coarsely chopped
Directions:
Cover figs with boiling water, let stand 10 minutes, drain and dry on towel. Clip stems and cut figs into thin strips. Sift white flour with baking powder, salt and sugar. Add whole wheat flour and stir to blend. Work butter into flour mixture. Add sour milk in which soda has been dissolved and mix. Add beaten eggs, nuts and figs, and beat. Pour into a paper-lined loaf pan (about 10x5x3 inches). Bake in moderate oven (350 F.) about 1 hour and 25 minutes. Serve hot with butter, or cool and slice very thin for tea sandwiches. Makes excellent toast when one or two days old.

FIG BREAD Recipe | OLD FASHIONED Bran Fig Honey Bread From a 1937 Recipe!
This classic fig bread recipe comes from the Household Searchlight Recipe Book which is from 1937. You can use whatever kind of dried fruit and nut you want in this recipe. Pecans and cranberries would be delicious! Enjoy!
1 cup bran
2 ½ cups flour
¾ TSP baking soda
2 TSP baking powder
1 TSP salt
1 cup milk
1 beaten egg
¼ cup brown sugar
3 TBSP melted shortening
½ cup honey
1 cup chopped figs
½ cup chopped nuts
Sift flour and measure. Sift flour again with baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add nuts and figs. Combine eggs, brown sugar, shortening, and honey. Add bran. Add flour mixture to egg mixture alternatively with milk. Mix well. Pour into well-oiled loaf pan (I used a 1 quart loaf pan) and bake in a moderate oven (375F) for about 1 to 1 ¼ hours. Makes 1 loaf.

But if you are after a variation, this Fig Fennel bread is equally delicious especially if you can grab fresh figs that are in season. Figs have a deep fruity sweetness and fennel seeds provide a mellow flavour that enhances this sweetness further. I would say fig and fennel combination is deliciously pleasant. Give this a try and you will forget your good old banana bread.
Easy Fig Toast Recipe
Fig season is short and sweet and one of the best ways to enjoy figs is in this easy fig toast recipe. All you need is a good sourdough bread, ricotta cheese, quartered figs, honey and a sprinkle of flake salt.
Ingredients
2 slices good sourdough bread Tartine bread if you happen to live in SF or LA
3 Tbsp ricotta cheese bellwether farms is excellent
2 fresh figs, quartered
drizzle fresh honey Nature Nate's is a great raw, unfiltered honey
sprinkle flake salt Jacobsen Salt Co has great textured salt
Instructions
Toast your sourdough bread until it is slightly crispy and browned on edges, or to your desired doneness. Spread about 1 1/2 Tablespoons of fresh ricotta on each slice of toast. Place quartered figs on top of ricotta. Drizzle toast with some of your favorite honey. Sprinkle with salt.
