1 pound ground round
OR extra lean ground beef 1/2 cup chopped onions garlic
1/4 teaspoon oregano
10 3/4 ounces lowfat cream of mushroom soup
16 ounces chopped tomatoes
5 ounces no-yolk egg noodles -- cooked
Brown onions, meat, garlic and oregano in Teflon skillet. Add undiluted soup and tomatoes. Mix well. Yields 10 servings. Nutritional Info./Serving Calories 230 Fat 5 grams

Ingredients:
1.5 pounds ground beef
1 pound package of egg noodles
3 ounces cream cheese
2 cans diced or crushed tomatoes
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 tablespoon dried oregano
8 ounces sour cream
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cook egg noodles according to package directions and drain.
Butter a 9x13 casserole dish and spread cream cheese on the bottom.
Add cooked noodles on top of cream cheese and stir to combine.
In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat.
Add diced or crushed tomatoes, kosher salt, black pepper, tomato paste, and dried oregano to the skillet and stir to combine.
Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the beef mixture on top of the noodles in the casserole dish.
Stir in sour cream and green onions.
Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Johnny Marzetti is the name of a famous casserole dinner meal from Ohio in the US. It resembles the American goulash or the chop suey, some say it's a variation of it. Pasta noodles are cooked, ground beef is sauteed in a skillet with mushrooms and everything comes together in a baking dish with tomato sauce and whole peeled and canned tomato pieces. The topping is of course cheese and the johnny marzetti is baked until the topping is crispy and the pasta is perfectly delicious. This makes a great family dinner meal, every child loves this dish and we enjoy it anytime too!

Beef & Egg Noodle Casserole
Prep time: 35 minutes Bake time: 25 minutes
5 cups uncooked egg noodles
1 pound ground beef
1 can (8oz) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 teaspoons butter
1 cup (8oz) cottage cheese
1 cup (8oz) sour cream
3 green onions (chopped)
1-1.5 cups mozzarella cheese
Boil noodles. While the noodles boil, brown ground beef until no longer pink. Drain. Add tomato sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Drain noodles. Put in a big bowl and gently stir in butter to coat the noodles. Fold in cottage cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions.
Lightly grease a 13 x 9-inch pan or medium-sized casserole dish: layer noodles, meat sauce, and cheese. Typically there is enough to complete three layers. Sprinkle with cheese and dot with additional butter patties (optional).
Bake uncovered in the oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Enjoy!!!

SLOW COOKER BEEF NOODLE CASSEROLE
This recipe is easy to throw together in the slow cooker and has great reviews!
PRINTABLE RECIPE AND NUTRITIONAL INFO:
RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs. beef stew meat can be 1.5-2lbs.
1½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. onion powder
¼ tsp. black pepper
15 oz. tomato sauce
15 oz. diced tomatoes
WAIT TO ADD THESE ITEMS
12 oz. egg noodles
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (freshly shredded if possible) divided
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add the beef stew meat to your slow cooker.
Sprinkle over the salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder.
Pour over the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce.
Stir. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours. The longer it cooks, the meat will become more tender.
Near the end of the cooking time, cook the egg noodles according to the package directions on the stove top. I cook mine for 6 minutes. Do not overcook the noodles. Cook them to al dente.
Drain the noodles and add them to the slow cooker with the meat and sauce. Also, add a 1/2 cup of the cheese. Stir.
Sprinkle over the remaining cheese. Place the lid back on and cook for 20 minutes more on the HIGH setting.
Turn off the slow cooker and serve!
