How To make Sesame Shrimp Toasts
6 oz Cooked peeled medium-size
-shrimp, thawed if frozen 1 Piece ginger root, peeled,
-grated (3/4") 1 Garlic clove, crushed
2 ts Cornstarch
1 Egg white
3 pn Five Spice Powder
Salt to taste Fresh ground pepper to taste 4 Thin slices white bread,
-crusts removed 3 tb Sesame seeds
Vegetable oil for shallow -frying Green onion daisies Drain shrimp well on paper towels. Mince shrimp finely. In a bowl, mix shrimp with ginger, garlic and cornstarch. Lightly whisk egg white with a fork (just enough to make frothy) and add to shrimp. Stir in Five Spice Powder, salt and pepper; mix well. Press shrimp mixture evenly and firmly onto slices of bread. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and press on firmly. Heat 3/4" oil in a large skillet. Lower slices of bread, shrimp-side down, into hot oil and fry 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Keep slices immersed in oil. Drain on paper towels. Cut into fingers and garnish with green onion daisies.

Not a lot of people know but Chris is actually a really good cook, and he first made his prawn toast recipe for our homemade family Chinese banquet on new years eve a couple of years back. and it was a hit and i have been asking him to get it written down since then. So here you go the perfect Chinese appetiser.

Prawn Toast Ingredients:
200g (7oz) raw prawns (de-veined and de-shelled)
1 tsp minced ginger
2 cloves garlic minced
1 egg white
2 spring onions/scallions (chopped)
1 tsp light soy sauce
¼ tsp white pepper
¼ tsp salt
3 pieces of thick sliced (about 1cm thick) white bread
6 tbsp of sesame seeds
Vegetable oil for frying (i used around 1 litre)
To Serve:
Sweet Chilli Dipping Sauce (or left over sweet and sour sauce from sweet and sour chicken - link at the end of the video )
Chopped fresh coriander (optional)

Do you have some leftover sandwich bread and are not sure what to do with them? Let’s elevate them into this super delicious and crispy Cantonese shrimp toast! Shrimp toast originated in Hong Kong. It’s a fusion dish with a combination of Cantonese shrimp paste and Western sandwich bread. It is commonly found in dim sum and afternoon tea restaurants in Hong Kong.
Shrimp Toast Written Recipe:
Serving: 12 pieces
Prep time: 1 hour
Cook time: 10 minutes
For the sweet and sour dipping sauce:
1 cup water
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
3 tablespoons ketchup
5 tablespoons sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch
3 tablespoons water
For the shrimp paste:
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 egg whites
½ teaspoon minced ginger
5 tablespoons cilantro stems
For the bread:
6 slices sandwich bread
2 egg yolks, whisked
1 ½ cups breadcrumbs
4 cups avocado oil, for frying
