Cheddar Biscuits Recipe
Quick recipe for an amazing cheese appetizer. What not to like to these cheddar biscuits? Buttery, flaky, garlicky and cheesy ... one of the best combinations ever and they do look really appetizing as well.
Ingredients:
Makes about 10-12 biscuits
2 cups (250g) flour
2 1/2 tsp (10g) baking powder
1 tbsp (15g) sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
5 tbsp (70 g) cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
3/4 cup (200g) buttermilk, cold
1 cup (100g) matured cheddar cheese, grated
For brushing the tops
2 tbsp (30g) melted butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp chopped fresh parsley
1/4 tsp salt
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400 F (200 C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium-large bowl whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and garlic powder. Add the butter cubes, and using a pastry cutter or fork cut the butter until the pieces are no bigger than peas.
3. Add the grated cheese and just give a quick stir to combine with the flour mixture. Incorporate the cold buttermilk until just combined, don't overmix.
4. Take large spoons of mixture and with the help of another tablespoon place them on the prepared baking sheet. Optional sprinkle some grated cheese on top of each.
5. Bake for about 15-18 minutes until golden brown. While they bake, prepare the butter mixture. Melt the butter into a small sauce pan, add garlic, parsley and salt and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat.
6. Brush the tops of the biscuits with butter mixture and serve hot.

For the Biscuits:
2 1/2 (310 g) cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup (113 g) cold butter (1 stick)
1 cup (230 g) cold buttermilk
1 cup (90 g) cheddar cheese, shredded
For the top:
1 tbsp melted butter
shredded cheese
Herbs
????????Instructions:
????Preheat the oven to 420 F. (215 C)
✅Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
✅In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, granulated sugar, garlic powder, and baking powder.
✅Grate the cooled butter on a grater, then rub the butter and flour between your fingers. Work quickly so the butter does not melt. You should have a flour crumb. See video above for a closer look at the texture.
✅Pour the cold buttermilk and mix just until combined with a wood spoon.
✅Add the shredded cheese and gently mix everything by hand.
✅Put the dough onto a floured work surface and roll it out into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Fold one side into the center and then the other side as shown in the video. Roll it out to a 1-inch thick rectangle again.
✅Cut out biscuits.
✅Transfer the biscuits to the baking sheet.
????Bake for 14-17 min until golden brown.
✅Remove from the oven and brush the top of the biscuits with butter.
✅Serve warm.
✅Reheat in the oven (160 C / 320 F, about 10-15 minutes)
❗️Measurements Note: All recipes have been developed using weight measurements. Although US volume measurements have been included for your convenience, it is highly encouraged that you weigh your ingredients using a kitchen scale to get the best possible results. Due to the sensitive nature of baking, kitchen scales are proven to yield more accurate and consistent results than measuring cups. Enjoy!
