Green Bean Casserole with Pearl Onions & Wild Mushrooms
Fresh ingredients like wild mushrooms, thyme and bacon elevate this holiday classic.
INGREDIENTS
8 strips of chopped bacon
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 cup of peeled pearl onions
1 pint each of sliced cremini and domestic mushrooms
1/3 cup of all-purpose flour
2 pounds of trimmed fresh green beans
1 quart of Half and Half
1 tablespoon of chopped fresh thyme
1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
1 cup of bread crumbs
Kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste
PREPARATION
1. Preheat the oven to 350°.
2. In a large pot over medium heat, add in the bacon and cook until it becomes crisp. Remove the bacon and set aside.
3. Next, add in the butter, onions and mushrooms and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
4. Stir the flour into the vegetables until completely mixed in and cook for 2 to 3 minutes over low heat.
5. Cook the green beans in a large pot of boiling salted water for 2 to 3 minutes or until al dente, or slightly crunchy. Strain and set aside.
6. Add the Half and Half to the pan with the vegetables and bring it to boil and cook over medium-high heat until it becomes very thick, like Alfredo sauce.
7. Next, stir in salt and pepper, thyme, crispy bacon and strained green beans until completely mixed in.
8. Transfer everything to a casserole dish and evenly sprinkle on the cheese and bread crumbs.
9. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until browned on top and the green beans are cooked. Serve with fresh thyme sprigs.

French Onion Mushroom Rice Casserole Recipe | Side Dish
Try my daughter Shayla's, delicious French Onion Mushroom Rice Casserole Recipe. Its a family favorite that everyone loves. Your family will love and enjoy this recipe as well. It is so easy to make, with only five ingredients. Turns out prefect every time you prepare it, long as you follow the exact recipe. If you don't like the mushrooms you can leave them out, but I leave them in because the mushrooms float to the top once the rice is done. So if anyone doesn't like mushrooms, they can just scrape them off the top.
Be sure to use the exact measurements and do not use low sodium Chicken Broth or low sodium French Onion Soup. This recipe can be doubled or tripled for larger families and occasions. Make sure you use a larger dish/pan if doubling or tripling this recipe. See ingredients and full recipe below. Thank you for watching!!!

Shayla’s French Onion Mushroom Rice
Ingredients I Used:
1 Cup Jasmine Rice (uncooked)
8 oz Stick of Salted Real Butter (melted)
10 ½ oz Can French Onion Soup (no low sodium)
10 ½ oz Can Chicken Broth (no low sodium)
6 ½ oz Can Mushrooms Sliced or Pieces (drain ½ liquid)
Preparations: (Recipe can be doubled for larger servings)
Preheat oven 400 degrees. Pour melted butter into a 2 qt dish or pan. Spread evenly one cup of jasmine rice over melted butter (please add exact rice amount). Add all the other ingredients evenly into pan. Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes according to the dish or temperature of your oven. It will stop bubbling and mushrooms will float to the top when done. Serve with meat, salads, other side dishes or just alone. Great for the holidays too. Serving size approx. 6.
