Wagyu Steak Sandwich with Peppers
What do you do with Wagyu? While many people reserve this premium cut of beef for special occasions, you might be surprised to learn that it can easily be layered on toasty Heinen’s steak rolls with roasted peppers, crumbled goat cheese and Heinen’s premade pesto for a gourmet sandwich.
If you’re interested in giving this recipe a try, @ChefBillyParisi recommends asking your local Heinen’s butcher to thin slice your desired amount of our Wagyu beef and you will be well on your way to redefining the traditional steak sandwich!
Wagyu Steak Sandwich with Peppers
Serves 4
Ingredients:
• 2 Tbsp. olive oil
• 2 lbs. Heinen's Wagyu beef, sliced thin by Heinen's butchers
• 4 Heinen’s steak rolls, sliced and toasted
• 8 leaves Boston bibb lettuce
• ½ red onion, peeled and sliced
• 1 jar Heinen’s roasted peppers
• 1 jar Heinen’s pesto
• ½ cup crumbled goat cheese
• Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Add the olive oil to a large frying pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Once the oil begins to lightly smoke, add the beef and spread it out over the pan. Season it well with salt and pepper.
3. Cook the beef for 3-4 minutes, or until seared and cooked through. Set aside.
4. Return the pan to the burner over medium heat and toast the steak rolls, slice-side-down until lightly toasted.
5. To assemble, add two lettuce leaves to the toasted steak roll followed by some of the cooked and seasoned beef. Layer on the sliced red onions, roasted peppers, pesto and goat cheese. Repeat the process to make 3 more sandwiches.

???? PEPPER STEAK SANDWICH - THE STEAK BOMB
Shaved steak or steak tips (approx 1 lb or as much as you need)
Onion
Peppers (green, red, spicy, you pick)
Cheese (White American from the deli or provolone is recommended)
Genoa salami
Hoagie rolls
On a griddle or flattop, cook the sliced onions and peppers in 2 tbsp oil over med high heat until the veggies have softened and onions become translucent. Remove onions and peppers and set to the side. Now throw on your shaved steak (and maybe a little extra oil) and cook until steak is browned on all sides and done. Add the salami as well. Once the salami has crisped up just a little bit, remove it and layer the salami on the bottom of the hoagie roll.
Mix the veggies back in with the steak. Portion out enough veggies and steak for one sandwich and lay a few slices of cheese on top of each portion. Let the cheese melt and then, using a spatula. remove each portioned amount of steak, veggies, and cheese and lay it in the hoagie roll. Add your favorite condiments and enjoy!

PHILLY CHEESE STEAK WRAPS | RICHARD IN THE KITCHEN
In this video I show you how to make a variation of the great Philly Cheese sandwich. Instead of sandwich rolls we are using flour tortilla wraps. Slower cooked ribeye or sirloin, sliced thin and paired with onions, bell peppers and either provolone cheese or cheese whiz spread. Easy and quick delicious recipe.
Shopping List:
1 tbsp. oil
1 thinly sliced small onion (yellow, sweet or white)
1 thinly sliced bell pepper (red or green)
Now before anyone comments on the use of the peppers, I know it's not a traditional ingredient, but many like them in the sandwich as do I. In fact, even Geno's and Pat's in Philly now offer that option these days.
1 tsp seasoning salt (recipe below for homemade)
1/2 tsp course black pepper
1 lb. thinly sliced semi-frozen beef ribeye or sirloin steak (it's easier to slice this way)
Cheese (provolone slices or Kraft Cheese Whiz)
Flour tortilla wraps
Homemade Seasoning Salt:
1/4 cup Kosher salt
4 tsps. ground black pepper
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
Directions:
Remove the steak from the freezer about 30-40 minutes before cooking to thaw a bit. This will make slicing it thin easier.
Slice the onion and bell pepper into long thin strips.
Thinly slice the steak and set aside.
Heat the oil in a skillet or flat top over medium heat.
After 1-2 minutes, add the onions and peppers and season with the S&P. Stirring occasionally until the onions start to brown slightly. Push to one side of the skillet or flat top.
TIP: We want to cook the steak on medium-low heat to avoid over cooking and so it will keep its natural juiciness.
TIP: Don't season with salt and pepper until the steak is done. Salting it at the start creates dryness and a crust which we don't want on this type of sandwich.
Add the steak and toss about for a few minutes until browned and cooked through. When there's no more visible red, it's done. Be careful to not overcook.
Combine the steak with the onions/peppers and top with your choice of cheese. NOTE: if using cheese whiz, warm in microwave per container instructions then top steak mixture and combine.
Cover if necessary and allow the cheese to thoroughly melt into the meat/onion/pepper mixture. About 1 minute.
Split the mixture into portions and turn off the heat.
Add each portion to the center of warmed tortillas then fold, tuck and roll.
Slice the tortillas in the middle on the bias (at an angle) and serve with french fries.
Enjoy!
