How To make Marie's Baked Bean Soup
16 oz Cooked dry butter beans
- (lima) (1 can) 18 oz Baked beans (1 can)
16 oz Dark red kidney beans,
- drained (1 can) 16 oz Stewed, diced tomatoes
(1 can) 1 lb Bacon, cooked and chopped
- (ham may be substituted), - with drippings 1 lg Onion, chopped
2 tb Brown sugar
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 1/2 ts Schilling peppered seasonin
1 1/2 tb Red wine vinegar
- OR - 1 1/2 tb Apple cider vinegar
16 oz Chunk pineapple, drained
- (1 can) Liquid smoke to taste - (optional) In slow-cooker pot, combine butter beans, baked beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, bacon (with drippings), onion, brown sugar, salt, seasoning, vinegar, pineapple and liquid smoke; blend thoroughly. Cover and cook on low setting of slow cooker pot for 6 hours. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Serve with sourdough bread. Note: If thicker soup is desired, drain all beans, etc. Preparation time: 15 minutes Cooking time: 6 hours

Butter Bean Soup
Ingredients:
2 cups carrots, diced
2 cups celery, diced
2 cups onions, diced
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup flour
1 quart chicken broth
2 15-ounce cans butter beans, drained
1 can Rotel tomatoes with Green Chiles (mild)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried basil
1-2 teaspoons kosher salt
Directions:
Soften carrots, celery and onions in olive oil over medium low heat.
When softened, mix in flour until it forms a paste.
Slowly add stock, mixing so no lumps form.
Add beans, tomatoes, sugar and basil.
Add salt to taste.
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Serve with cornbread.

Crockpot Italian Bean Soup
Ingredients
• 1 package Hambeens® 15 BEAN SOUP® with seasoning packet
• 1 pound Italian sausage mild or spicy
• 1 large onion diced
• 8 cups low sodium beef broth
• 1 red pepper diced large
• 3 cloves garlic minced
• 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
• 15 ounces diced tomatoes with juices
• 1 zucchini sliced ⅛ thick
• 1 cup marinara sauce or pasta sauce
• 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
For Serving
• parmesan cheese
• fresh parsley
• fresh basil
• garlic toast
Instructions
• Rinse beans and drain. Sort any unwanted debris and set seasoning packet aside.
• Brown sausage and onion in a skillet over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain fat.
• Place beans, sausage & onion, broth, red pepper, garlic, and Italian seasoning in a 6qt slow cooker.
• Cook on high 5 hours (or low for 7-8) or until beans are tender.
• Once beans are soft stir in diced tomatoes, zucchini, seasoning packet, marinara sauce, and red wine vinegar. Cook for additional 45-50 minutes or until zucchini is tender.
• Serve with toppings and garlic bread if desired.

1 lb. Large Dried Lima Beans (Soak overnight!)
1 large Smoked Turkey Leg or Ham Shank
8 - 9 cups Chicken Stock or Broth, can use 2 tbsp of either Better than Turkey or Chicken Bouillon
Salt and Pepper to taste
How to Hot Flash Beans
Clean and sort your beans.
Rinse in a colander with cold water. Add the beans to a large pot and cover them with about 2 inches of water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, leave the pot uncovered and cook the beans for about 5 minutes. Remove pot from the heat and soak the beans. Let the beans soak in the hot water for 1 hour. Drain the beans into a colander, rinse and then cook according to your this recipe. Enjoy!
