How To make Home Baked Beans
1 pt Navy beans
1/4 lb Salt pork
1 t Mustard, dry
1 1/2 t Salt
1 T Molasses
1/2 c Water, boiling
1 1/2 T Sugar
Cover beans with cold water and soak over night. Change the water and cook at slightly below boiling point until skins burst. To test beans, take a few and expose them to cold air; if shells burst, they are sufficiently cooked. Drain off the water and add the salt pork which has been cut into strips. Put in bean pot, having some of the salt pork slices on top. Mix the mustard, sugar, salt, and molasses together and add to the beans. Add the boiling water. Cover pot and bake at 250-F about 6 hours, removing the cover during the last hour. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.

Beans, Beans the Magical Fruit ! An amazing old fashioned baked beans recipe. Vegetarian, vegan using olive oil or add bacon.
You will need: 2 cups of Great Northern or Navy dried beans, 1 medium onion, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup fancy sweet molasses, 1 tsp salt, 1 1/2 tsp dried mustard, 1/4 tsp black pepper, 1 tbsp butter or olive oil, or 1 rasher of bacon, boiling water.

Homemade Baked Pinto Beans
Making your own beans will save you money if you are buying them in cans.
Very easy to make with only 4 ingredients.
3 cups of beans (I used Pinto Beans)
Half Medium Size-Onion
3-4 Garlic Cloves
Salt
Instructions:
Wash your beans
In a large stockpot, fill with water (3/4 full )
Once it comes to a boil add your beans and let them cook on low to medium heat for 1-2 hours. Check on them often. Add more water if needed.
Add the garlic, onion, and salt. Cook for another 30min to an hour.
If you use a crockpot, add the onion and garlic at the beginning.
Once they are done you can fry them or serve them as is.
Make sure they have completely cooled before refrigerating.
