Ingredients:
For the crust:
2¾ cups (250g) Rolled oats
1¾ cups (220g) Flour
3/4 cup (150g) Brown sugar
1/2 cup (100g) White sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 cup (230g) Butter, cold
For the filling:
5 apples
2 tablespoons (15g) flour
2-3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
2. Make the crust: in a large bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon and salt. Add cold, cubed butter and mix with your hands until crumbly. Reserve two cups of the mixture in the fridge for a later use.
3. Press the remaining crust mixture into a baking pan (13*9 inch). Press firmly.
4. Bake the crust for 15 minutes, then set aside.
5. Make the filling: peel the apples, then thinly slice. Arrange apple slices in a row on the cooled crust.
6. Sprinkle the apples with flour, sugar and cinnamon. Then, crumble the reserved crust mixture.
7. Bake for 35 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
8. Allow to cool, then cut into bars.
Notes:
• In the video you can see I’ve arranged apple slices in one row, but after trying it, I think it’s not enough, try layering two layers or more (5 apples should be enough).

How To Make Frangipane : Puff Pastry Almond Cake (Tutorial for Beginners) - Christmas cake ideas
Join my online French cooking classes: The Frangipane is an almond filling use in France to make the famous Galette des rois ( translated king cake) this simple pastry item is made out of a thick layer of creme Frangipane ( which is in fact an almond cream mixed with pastry cream) sandwiched between 2 layer of pure butter puff pastry.
In this french baking class you will learn how to make the authentic Frangipane almond cream from scratch as well as how to use it to make a delicious and tasty almond cake.
WRITTEN RECIPE LINK BELOW:
today to make make things easier for home cooking we are going to use some good quality pre-made puff pastry and create a simple rectangular shaped cake that we will be able slice and serve on your christmas table for dessert. However when making this recipe it is vital to make a true Frangipane and not an almond cream (creme d'amande) which many people seems to do nowadays. An authentic Frangipane is made with a pastry cream mixed with almond cream. Only that combination will provide you with the true taste of the cake filling that you may have tasted back in France.

How To Make Gevulde Koeken: Almond Filled Cookies with Homemade Almond Paste
Learn to make Gevulde Koeken: Dutch Almond Filled cookies, with homemade almond paste from scratch! Buttery goodness, slight savoriness, and a nice balanced sweetness, these large cookies have it all!! These pastries have been around since the 16th century; they used to go by names as gevuld heertje (filled little lord) or gevulde herenkoek (filled lord's cookie) because almonds were (back then) a luxury that only the aristocracy or wealth people could afford. The almond flavor from the filling is great, and the buttery dough around it just compliments it!
The almond paste will take some time in the fridge to develop its flavor, so I recommend doing that a few days before. Also, it makes about twice as much as the gevulde koeken need, so you'll be able to freeze the rest.
The Dutch are crazy about almonds, three of my previous videos where we bake sweets have almonds in them, or it's a common variation.
