3/4 lb Raw prawns
1 1/4 tb Black beans
1 Clove garlic, chopped
1 Green onion, chopped
1 tb Oil
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Oil
1 1/2 ts Thin soy sauce
1 ts White wine
1 ts Oyster sauce
Prepare the prawns by cutting off whiskers, cutting along the top of the shell, and deveining them. Leave the shells on the prawns because this keeps the prawns more tender, tasty and plumlp. Wash, drain and put prawns in a pie pan so as to be ready for steaming. Wash black beans two times and mash into a paste; then add the chopped garlic. Combine remaining ingredients, EXCEPT the oil. Pour mixture over prawns; then, pour oil on top. Cover and steam 10 minutes. Serve over rice. SOURCE: Chopstick, Cleaver and Wok.

Steamed Garlic Prawns - 蒜茸蒸虾
Recipe at:
A simple dish that everyone can cook and doesn't take up a chunk of your time.
The key to this dish is FRESHNESS. Try to get hold of sea prawns as they definitely taste better than the farmed ones. It is also important to get large prawns so that they won't get overcooked too easily during the steaming process!
As overcooked prawns taste powdery, we definitely wanna avoid that. You will know when your prawns are perfectly cooked if they are crunchy to the bite!
Combine with the garlic and soy sauce mixture to give it the aroma and slight saltiness this dish needs.

Steamed Prawns with Garlic [Nyonya Cooking]
Easy steamed prawns recipe for garlic lovers. This steamed prawns with garlic dish is a quick dish anyone would be able to whip up without any fuss. Best served with rice.
Cooking an array of dishes for a meal catering to a group of people can be very tedious. Hence, I like to prepare quick and simple dishes during such occasions. Due to the simplicity of the dish, you can certainly rely on it as a quick after work recipe too.
Using fresh prawns for this dish would be the best option but frozen prawns would also do the trick. All you need for this recipe is a whole load of garlic. To some, garlic may be extremely offensive but to garlic lovers like me, I am sure we all agree that besides having an amazing flavour, it also contains great health benefits and medicinal values. Besides being highly nutritious, it is also very low in calories. Hurrah to that! Together with the taste and aroma of the sauces that are added to the dish, the burst of flavours that explodes in the mouth is exceptionally delightful.
If you do not like to have rice with the prawns, you may opt to steam some glass noodles together to create a quick “one pot meal”.
In this recipe, I fried some of the minced garlic to be mixed with the fresh minced garlic. It is important to be careful when frying the minced garlic as burnt garlic would cause this dish to be bitter. The steaming process should not be too long or the prawns would turned out to be tough. Otherwise, this dish is definitely an easy and excellent choice for a meal.

Steamed Fish with Fermented Bean Paste | Steamed Fish with Taucu [Nyonya Cooking]
Steamed fish, the Asian way with a twist! The addition of Fermented Bean Paste contributes to the strong but pleasant taste of this dish.
If you got hold of the freshest fish of the day, I highly recommend you to just simply steam it. Fresh fishes should be eaten with some accompanying ingredients to enhance the sweetness of the flesh. In my other video, I showed you how to steam with with some soy sauce (Cantonese style) and that was a great hit. This recipe also requires you to steam the fish but the taste is a whole different spectrum compared to the Cantonese style steamed fish.
I especially enjoy it as the spice in this dish definitely perks the taste buds. To get the reach the full aroma of the dish, do stir fry the ingredients until fragrant. Which is why, low to medium heat is highly recommended!
In the video, I used Seabass and if you would prefer other fishes, I would recommend you to pick white fish like cod or bream. If you enjoy the dish with a little more gravy, feel free to add some water or even corn flour water mixture to thicken the gravy. In any case, I bet you will be loving this quick and easy dish!

So Good U’ll Lick the Plate! Garlic Soy Prawns 豉油蒜香虾 Chinese Shrimp Stir Fry Recipe | kecap manis
This Garlic Soy Prawns recipe is both super easy and super delicious. I was hooked the first time my father made this dish for lunch. My father knew how much I enjoyed this dish, so he prepared it frequently for me. I gave Roland this recipe when we first got married, and even though my father is no longer around to make it for me, every time Roland cooks it, it transports me back to a time when my father was still around. The best part is that this dish only requires five ingredients. It's really that simple! If deep-frying the prawns or shrimp intimidates you due to the mess it will leave behind, first fry them in some oil over medium high heat. The idea behind cooking them first is to ensure even cooking. If you put the prawns in the wok raw, the garlic will burn before the prawns are evenly cooked. I hope you and your family enjoy this dish as much as we did.
