How To make Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 1/4 c Firmly-packed brown sugar
3/4 c Golden crisco shortening
1 ts Vanilla
1 ts Almond extract
1 Egg
1 3/4 c All-purpose flour
1 ts Salt
3/4 ts Baking soda
1 c Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c Maraschino cherries; well
-drained = and coarsely chopped 1. Pre-heat oven to 375F (190C). Place sheets of foil on
countertop for cooling cookies. 2. Combine brown sugar, shortening, milk and vanilla in
large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture. 3. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into creamed
mixture just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and cherries. 4. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls (15 mL) of dough 2 inches (5
cm) apart onto ungreased baking sheet. 5. Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375F (190C) for 8
to 10 minutes for chewy cookies, or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely. Makes About 3 Dozen Cookies -----

Happy Holidays! Here is my recipe for my family's homemade Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies. My dad made this recipe about 40 years ago and it has been a family favorite ever since. The making of these cookies truly marks the arrival of the holiday season.
Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies:
1 cup butter softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cherry juice from the jar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 jar maraschino cherries
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix sugars, butter, and wet ingredients together.
Add flour, salt, and soda to mixing bowl and blend.
Add cherries and chocolate chips and mix until incorporated.
Drop 1 inch spoonfuls of dough onto an uncreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Edges will be slightly browned but centers will be soft. Cookies firm up as the cool.
ENJOY!!!
To make regular chocolate chip cookies remove cherries and juice.
Paradise Fruit Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
2 eggs
1 cup nuts (pecans or walnuts)
8 oz. Red and Green Candied Cherries
Directions:
1. Cut Red and Green Candied Cherries into small pieces.
2. In a bowl, add 2 1/4 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, and whisk.
3. In a separate bowl, add 1 cup butter or margarine, 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and mix.
4. Add one egg at a time, mixing well after each one.

This is a twist on your ordinary chocolate chip cookie.
The almond extract combined with the cherries and chocolate are a perfect combination. When I make them again I plan on adding more cherries to give them a little stronger cherry flavor. I will put the recipe below should you want to try them. Enjoy, Dolores

RECIPE:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
You will need a parchment lined cookie sheet
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup granulated sugar
3 sticks of softened butter -( 1 1/2 cups)
1 tsp. almond extract
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 (10 oz.) jar of Maraschino cherries - drained and chopped
(I plan on using more cherries next time I make them)
1 - 12 oz. bag of semi-sweet chocolate morsels (Nestles)
Pink gel coloring to tint the dough pink
