2 c Sugar
1/2 c Butter
1/2 c Shortening
2 Eggs
2 c Applesauce
3 tb Cocoa
1 ts Salt
1 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Cloves; scant
3 ts Soda
4 c Flour; sifted
1 c Raisins, dates or nuts
Cream butter, shorteing, sugar and eggs. Add sifted flour, cocoa, salt and spices alternately with the applesauce. Add soda in hot water. Mix thoroughly. Pour batter into greased 9x13: pan. Bake about 40 minutes at 350 Serve plain or with whipped cream. Source: My Famous LIttle Black Box

INGREDIENTS
FOR THE APPLESAUCE CAKE
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
FOR THE CARAMEL FROSTING
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped

INSTRUCTIONS
FOR THE APPLESAUCE CAKE
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 9×9 cake pan with nonstick spray. Line with parchment and spray again. Then set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 3 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in between each until incorporated.
Mix in applesauce. The batter will seem very loose and curdled, but that is completely normal.
Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt. Mix until just combined, 2 minutes.
Remove bowl from mixture and use a spatula to scrape the bottom of bowl, ensuring the batter was mixed evenly.
Pour into prepared pan and bake until a toothpick or skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean, about 35-45 minutes. While the cake is cooling, make the frosting.
FOR THE FROSTING
In a 4 quart saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar and milk. Melt on medium low heat, stirring occasionally. Continue to cook until the mixture begins to boil and boil lightly for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool for 10-15 minutes.
Add vanilla and sugar. Whisk until smooth and thick.
Once the cake is completely cool, frost the cake. Sprinkle with toasted walnuts in desired.
NOTES
To maintain freshness, this cake freezes well in an airtight container up to one month.

Homemade Applesauce Cake Recipe

In a large bowl combine:
2 1/2 cups flour
2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
In a medium bowl combine:
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
Mix the dry and wet ingredients together. Put batter in a well greased 9 x 13 pan. Mix together:
1 TBS white sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Sprinkle over the cake batter. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25 - 35 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool for 20 minutes and serve! You can top with whipped cream, confectionary sugar, ice cream or frosting!

✅Ingredients
350g Flour
1 tbsp Baking Powder
10g cinnamon cinnamon
1tsp Salt
220g Butter
350g Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
500g Applesauce
????Instructions
1️⃣Cake Batter
1. Mix Flour, Baking Powder, Cinnamon, and Salt together and set aside
2. Cream the Softened Butter and Brown Sugar together
3. When the butter mix gets lighter add the eggs one by one
4. Add the third of your flour mixture to the butter mixture
5. When it is partly mixed add half of the applesauce
6. Add another third of the flour mixture
7. Then the last of the applesauce
8. Finish it off with the last of the flour mixture
9. Stop mixing when everything is homogeneous
2️⃣Baking the Cake
1. Oil your bundt cake mold
2. Pour the cake batter into the mold
3. Bake in a 350F oven for about 60minutes
3️⃣The sauce
1. Take out of the oven, add your favorite sauce or eat as is!
