Maraschino Cherry Cake (The cake that breaks all the rules)

Cherry Cake
This cherry cake is so easy to make, and only requires a few ingredients. This recipe comes complete with a simple cherry cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients
15 ounce white cake mix you do not need the ingredients listed on the box
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
21 ounce cherry pie filling
Frosting
16 ounces cream cheese softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
1/3 cup cherry pie filling from the can listed above
2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Garnish
Maraschino cherries with stems
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spray or lightly grease 13 x 9 baking pan.
Measure 1/3 cup of cherry pie filling and set aside to use in frosting. (see below)
With a mixer on low speed, combine dry cake mix, eggs, baking powder, both extracts, and remaining cherry pie filling until combined. Increase speed to medium and beat until creamy, a minute or so.
Pour batter into prepared pan, and level with a spatula.
Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool completely in pan on a wire rack.
Cherry Cream Cheese Frosting
With a mixer on medium speed, beat the cream cheese and butter together until creamy.
Turn mixer to low and add in the cherry pie filling and extracts. Once combined, beat on medium for a minute or two until cherries are broken into small pieces.
Turn mixer down to low and slowly add the powdered sugar until completely combined and of spreading consistency. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.
Garnish
It's optional but pretty! Add a stemmed maraschino cherry to the top of each slice when you serve.
Notes
You do not need the ingredients listed on the back of the cake mix box. Use the ingredients listed in this recipe.
Soften the cream cheese and butter, but don’t let it get warm, just take the chill off. This takes about 20-30 minutes on the counter. It helps to cut the cream cheese and butter into smaller sections first.
When adding the powdered sugar, if you are using a stand mixer, you can cover the top with a kitchen towel to help keep the powdered sugar from flying out of the bowl. If you are using a hand mixer, add the powdered sugar very slowly, or you can even stir it in with a wooden spoon and then beat it with the mixer until creamy.

One of my favorite oven recipes converted to a slow cooker recipe.

INGREDIENTS:
For the cake
15.25 oz. white cake mix (I use Pilsbury Brand)
1 cup water
½ cup canola or vegetable oil
3 large eggs
20 oz. maraschino cherries (two jars) divided
For the frosting
½ cup salted butter room temperature
16 oz. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. maraschino cherry juice (from above jar) (you will need some cherries for the cake, some of juices for the frosting and more cherries for decorating)
4-6 Tbsp. milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
Chop about 20 of the cherries on a cutting board. You'll want them in a rough chop, you can use as much cherries as you want. I save the remaining cherries (and some juice) for decorating the cake.
In a large bowl, add the cake mix, oil, eggs and water. Mix until the batter is smooth, some lumps are fine (that's normal for cake mix). Stir in the cherries.
For the cake:
Spray the slow cooker with non stick spray.
Pour in the cherry cake batter.
Cook on HIGH for 2 hours and 15 minutes or until the center is done. You'll want to keep the lid on until the 2 hour and 15 minute mark to keep the heat in.
For the frosting:
In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, room temperature butter, milk (only add enough milk to make the consistency of frosting you want), and cherry juice.
Spread the frosting over the cake and add additional cherries for decoration if desired.

Ingredients
• 1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries, divided
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 3 cups sugar
• 6 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3/4 cup 2% milk
• 3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• FROSTING:
• 1 teaspoon cherry juice
• 1 teaspoon half & half
• 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
bake 325° F for 1 hour 15 minutes or until done.

Maraschino Cherry Cake with Cream Cheese Icing
No act of love, however small, is ever wasted
Easy cooking for busy families
The recipe is below:
1 box white cake mix
3 eggs
3/4 cups oil
1/2 cup water
3 oz. box of cherry jello
10 to 12 oz jar of maraschino cherries drained and chopped
Mix everything together and pour into a 9 x 13 sprayed baking dish.
Preheat oven to 350 F and bake cake 30 minutes. Let it cool when done.
Icing
4 oz softened cream cheese
4 Tablespoons softened butter
Mix the two together
Add 2 tsp. almond extract
2-1/2 to 3 cups sifted confectioners sugar
Add to the rest of the mixture and cream it in
Add 2 to 3 tsp. of milk and mix
1 tsp. lemon juice (optional) add
Add any left over cherries into the mixture or cut them in half and add to the top of the iced cake. Enjoy!!

- 60 grams of melted butter
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 150 grams of flour (3/4 cup)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 400 grams of frozen cherries
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 50 grams of flour
- 30 grams of sugar
- 40 grams of butter
Bake in preheated 350°F (180°C) oven / 45 minutes.
