Goulash recipe
The Story of Goulash/ The History of Goulash:
Hungerian: gulyás; German: Gulasch; Slovak: guláš; Serbian: гулаш; Croatian: gulaš; Romanian: gulaș; Italian: gulasch Ukraninan: гуляш, Czech: guláš; Slovenian: golaž;
Although there are many names for it, goulash is said to be originally a Hungarian recipe. Ok, but… some centuries ago, with the spread of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (read Hungarian origins), the recipe moved across this once large united region, leaving a large heritage of goulash (like) recipes. Hungarians, Northern Italians, Slovenians, Croatians, Austrians, Czechs, Slovakians, Ukranians, Vojvodina peoples, and many others, could all offer their twist on goulash.
The recipe:
6 lbs of beef*
3 lbs of onion
Veggies: 1 carrot, ½ of celery root, celery leaves, fresh parsley, 3-4 garlic cloves, 1 red or yellow bell pepper, 1-2 ripe tomatoes cut in 4
4 Tbsp of sweet red paprika
Salt, fresh ground pepper, pinch of baking soda
(Optional: about 3 cups of white wine, crushed red hot chili)
