This video is all about canned tuna. A can of tuna is an excellent source of protein and it can cost you as little as $1/can. These canned tuna dishes are easy and quick to make and they are as good as restaurant meals. All you need is some basic ingredients and some tuna. I made a tuna burger, a spicy tuna fried rice, some tuna pasta, and a (failed) tuna mayo onigiri.

Spicy Tuna Patties
Anyone thinking about tuna for lunch tomorrow? Forget the tuna salad and let these tuna patties steal your heart!
They are so quick and to make, the ingredients are things you will already have at home. Enjoy!

Feeds: 4 (approximately 12-13 patties)
Time: 15 minutes preparation, 10 minutes frying
1 tin of tuna (drained of oil/ water)
2 large potatoes- peeled, boiled and mashed.
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 teaspoon chaat masala (optional)
1/2 an onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons of fresh coriander, finely chopped
1-2 green finger chillies (to taste)
1 egg, beaten
vegetable oil for frying in wok

Spicy Tuna Cakes, Crispy Tuna Patties (English)

Ingredients:
Tuna Cakes
Tuna
3 cans (184 grams each)
Potatoes
2 large
Boiled , peeled and mashed .
Onion
1 small
Very finely chopped
Or grated
Semolina or Ground rice.
4 tbs.
Chilli powder
1 tsp.
Chilli flakes
1/2 tsp.
Garam masala
1/2 tsp.
Chaat masala
1 tsp.
Salt
1/2 tsp. Or to taste.
Cumin powder
1 tsp.
Lemon juice
2 tbs.
Oil for frying.
Tuna & Potato Cutlets
These are a quick fix kind of kabab/cutlet which tastes amazing on it’s own or in a wrap. A perfect starter to any meal, can be served with ketchup or any spicy dip/chutney.
Makes 10-12
Ingredients
1 can tuna (185gm)
3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 small onion, chopped finely
1 tsp. oil or butter
3 tbsp. chopped coriander
1 tbsp. chopped mint (optional)
2 green chillies, chopped
1 tsp. ginger paste
1/2 tsp. garlic paste
1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp. cumin powder
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
1/2 tsp. red chilli flakes (for extra spice, optional)
1/2 tsp. black pepper powder
juice of half a lemon
1 egg, for coating
breadcrumbs, for coating
oil for frying
Instructions
Drain the tuna from the can in a strainer and set aside.
Heat the 1 tsp oil or butter in a pan and then saute/fry the onions until they are soft but NOT golden. We just need to sweat them slightly. Add the ginger and garlic pastes, stir them in for a few seconds then turn off the heat. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Put the mashed potatoes in a bowl, add the drained tuna, softened onions/garlic/ginger mixture, coriander, mint, chillies, salt, lemon and all the remaining spices. Mix everything well and give it a taste. Adjust salt/spice or lemon if needed.
Shape round flattened patties out of the mixture. Dip each one in some beaten egg then in breadcrumbs. Shallow fry on both sides until golden and crispy.
TIP: You can omit the breadcrumbs, I normally prefer adding that layer for a nice crunchy crust.
Drain onto dish towels and serve with a dip and some lemon/lime slices.
