How To make Spicy Mexican Bean Burger
16 oz Canned red kidney beans;
Drained & rinsed 1/2 sm Onion; coarsely chopped
1/2 Green pepper; coarsely ch.
1 Carrot, steamed; mashed
1/8 c Picante sauce or salsa
1 c Bread crumbs
1/2 c Flour
1 ts Black pepper or to taste
Dash of chili powder Mix all ingredients together. Add more flour to create a firmer mixture, or more salsa if mixture is too stiff. Form into balls and smash into patties. Bake at 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until firm, brown and done. Serve on whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato and salsa. Accompany with tortilla chi and a large glass of iced tea. These can be grilled or pressed in those new=fangled sandwich presses... a lot quicker and tastier than baking. The judges suggested adding 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the recipe. Spicy Mexican Bean Burgers | High Protein Vegan
THE best veggie burger we've ever made! Can't wait to make these again!!
Burger press:
Ingredients:
½ medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
¼ red bell pepper, finely diced
1 chilli pepper, finely diced
1 cup kale, finely chopped
½ tsp ground cumin
80g quinoa (dry weight)
1 can black beans, drained and mashed
2 Tbsp sunflower seeds, minced
Salt (optional) and Pepper, to taste
Method:
Cook quinoa as per pack instructions.
Pre-heat oven to 200 C.
Over medium heat steam-fry onion, garlic, chilli, red pepper and kale and cook until softened.
Mash the beans.
Combine all ingredients together to form dough.
Shape dough into 6 burger patties.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 200 C.

1 tsp Lemon Juice
Salt to taste
For Tikki:
2 Cup Kidney Beans (Boiled)
2 Potatoes (Boiled)
1 and 1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1 tsp Curd
Chopped Mint Leaves
Chopped Coriander Leaves
1 tsp Green Chilly (Chopped)
2-3 tsp Oil
2 tsp Salsa
Salt to taste
For Burger:
Burger Buns
1 Onion (Sliced)
1 Tomato (Sliced)
Cabbage/Lettuce
Mayonnaise
Salsa
Cheese Slice (Optional)
