If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth in general, welcome and congratulations on joining the Fy Nyth Flock! I'm Ariel. I live off grid (as in no physical connection to public utilities) in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming. I've been living this lifestyle for more than three years now and love it! What will you find if you follow my channel and watch my videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of homesteading or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. I split my own wood for heat, carry my water by hand, and attempt to grow as much of my own food as I can between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from my mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
I live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning sceanery and wildlife that I am surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at Facebook.com/ArielCelestePhotography or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!
For a bit of my background, as a child, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend much of my free time exploring and playing in the woods. Little has changed now that I'm older I suppose. I moved to a place with a bigger woods and still enjoy spending my time outside gardening, hiking, exploring, and photographing the natural world around me. As the eldest of seven children who grew up in a homeschooling family, I had the opportunity, not always appreciated at the time, to learn to do quite a bit of work. I've enjoyed a wide range of jobs, everything from greenhouses and flower arranging to wilderness therapy with teens, to milking cows. Mostly, I enjoy doing the kinds of things that I think provide a real service or value to others. Some of my other hobbies include backpacking, hosting people, cooking, preserving food, anything to do with nutrition, reading, journalling, and sitting around a fire and talking to my close friends.

Food Pantry Baking: Chocolate Applesauce Cake
#foodpantrybaking, #applesauce, #chocapplesaucecake,#roadto1500
Hey everyone welcome back to my channel! I am baking a chocolate applesauce cake tonight using food pantry applesauce!
For the cake you will need: 2 eggs, 2 cups applesauce, 1/2 cup shortening or butter, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 2 Tbsp cocoa, 2 cup flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, tsp salt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Cream shortening or butter and sugar. Add eggs, mix. Add cocoa, flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Beat well. Add applesauce beat well. Pour into greased pan, 8x12 or loaf pan. Bake 40 min at 350. I also made cream cheese frosting to top it with, but this cake is moist and yummy without also.
For the cream cheese frosting I used 1 package cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, cup confectioner's sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Mix butter and cream cheese, beat well. Add confectioner's sugar. Beat. Add vanilla. beat. Frosting is ready to use. If more is desired just double recipe. If chocolate is desired add 1/4-1/2 cup cocoa depending on desired richness.

Instructions
00:00 Introduction
SPICE CAKE
00:28 Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and grease and flour a 9x13 baking dish (or spray with baking spray). Set aside.
00:33 In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugars (granulated and brown), baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices (cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg).
01:40 Add canola oil and melted butter and stir well. The batter will be pretty thick at this point, that is OK, but using an electric or stand mixer will make it easier to combine everything.
02:16 Add eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
02:46 Add vanilla extract and buttermilk and stir until ingredients are well-combined.
03:28 Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake on 350F (175C) for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
04:13 Allow to cool completely before topping with cream cheese frosting.
CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
04:32 Combine cream cheese and butter in the bowl of a stand mixer or in a large bowl and use an electric mixer to beat until creamy and well-combined. Stir in salt and vanilla extract.
04:53 Gradually, with mixer on low-speed, stir in powdered sugar until completely combined.
Spread evenly over cooled spice cake.
