ETY'S EATS: How to Make REAL French Toast | Pain Perdu
French Toast! A.K.A. Pain Perdu in french. This is how real French people eat French Toast. I like to make the simple classic I remember from my childhood which uses that rock hard day old baguette that otherwise would go in the trash. This i love to pair with caramelized apples and vanilla ice cream.
So Just whisk up 2 eggs, about a 1/2 cup of sugar and some whole milk until you have a nice custard. Add some cinnamon and then soak that hard bread 5 to 10 minutes or until it softens up nicely. Then slice the apples with skin on and sauté them with butter and some brown sugar until golden.
Once your bread has absorbed the custard and softened up you can sauté it in a hot pan with plenty of butter. Top with your caramelized apples, vanilla ice cream, a sprig of mint and some powdered sugar.
Bonne Appétit!
Ingredients:
1 Rock hard, stale, old, piece of bread.
2 Eggs
1/2 cup white sugar
Whole Milk
Cinnamon
Apples
Butter
Brown Sugar
Mint
Vanilla Ice Cream
Powdered Sugar
Et Voilà!
