Hello folks!
So tonight for tea, I made this big pot of tasty and very simple, stewed square sausages and onions. This recipe was given to me by a friend :) So I can’t claim it as my own…but had to share it with you, because it’s seriously tasty! This will serve 5-6 as part of a main meal…we had ours with mashed tatties and garden peas, but it would be off the charts with chips! :D
Everything I used will be listed below,
-Cheryl x

What I used - 3.5 Litre Crockpot (serves 5-6 people)
10 Lorne (Square sliced) Sausages - Fry them for a few minutes before adding to the slow cooker for colour.
1 Medium onion - Diced
400ml (14 fl oz) Boiling water
3 OXO cubes - or similar beef stock cubes
**Optional baby potatoes, carrots or other diced root vegetables could be added**
If you can’t find Square sliced sausage where you are, I do have a video recipe on the channel where you can make your own :) Click here, and it will take you to it -

There are quite a few ingredients that you will need for this recipe, I will just list them below.
• 8 Sausages (Pork or beef will work best)
• 2 Tbsp. butter
• 1 Onion, finely chopped
• 2 tsp. crushed garlic
• 2 Tbsp. plain flour
• 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
• 1 diced carrot
• 1 cup frozen peas
• 1 bay leaf (optional)
• 1 tsp. thyme
• 3 cups beef stock or water
Whilst you can eat this casserole by itself it is often best to have it with a side dish such as rice or potato mash. Rice is often a lot easier since you can just cook it in a rice cooker.
You don’t need to cook up fresh sausages for this! If you do have any leftover sausages, then don’t be afraid to use them in this recipe. Simply just slice them up and add them straight to the slow cooker.
One thing you may find is the sauce not being very thick at the end of cooking. To fix this simply mix together 1 Tbsp. cornflour to 1 Tbsp. water and add this to your casserole. This should thicken up the sauce enough but you may need to add more depending on how thick you like it.
You may notice that I put peas into the slow cooker at the start. This will cause them to discolour and not be as nice looking. If you want bright green peas, then simply add these just before you go to serve.
I do hope you enjoy this slow cooker sausage casserole and had no problems cooking it up. If you do come cross a variation or anything else that you would love to share, then please feel free to leave a comment below.
