1 lb Salt cod fish
6 Potatoes
1 Onion chopped
1 Egg
1/2 ts Pepper
Soak codfish over night. In morning pour off water and add fresh, put on heat and bring to boil, pour off water and put fresh on if need be, (test fish for saltness). If o.k. mix with the boiled mashed potatoes and egg. and onion. Make into cakes and fry in oil and margarine.

Today, I went back to my mum’s recipes and flavors and did a bowl full of “pastéis de bacalhau”. Again the most loved Gluten-free and Dairy-free recipe that I need. It was outstanding and so wonderful.
All made from scratch and it has 5 ingredients:
1. 5 Bacalhau Portions
2. 3,5K Potatoes
3. Parsley
4. 15 Eggs
5. Salt
If you wish you can add pepper which would be your 6 ingredients. You blend all together and when everything is smoothly enveloped, warm the oil (I used Portuguese Olive Oil and Sunflower Oil and shape the pastéis with 2 spoons.
They are ready when golden from all sides.
Make beautiful tomato rice and a nice salad.

Recipe calls for
1lb salted codfish
1 bunch of scallions
1 onion
scotch bonnet pepper
2 potatoes boil and mashed
all purpose seasoning'
garlic powder
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp baking powder
flour for texture
water
cooking oil for frying
combine all ingrediencies together
add flour until desire consistency
Heat oil until hot, drop batter in hot oil, turn over with fork, let brown before removing.

Cod Fish Cakes
2 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 pound fresh cod fillets
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 tbsp Onion (minced)
1 tbsp Parsley Flakes
1 tbsp All-Purpose Seasoning
1 egg
1 cup of oil for frying
Directions
Place the potatoes in a large pot of water, bring the water to a boil. Let the potatoes cook until they are tender. Mash and set aside.
Add the fish to the pot and cook until soft and flakey. Drain well and transfer the potatoes and fish to a large mixing bowl, add all-purpose seasoning, baking powder, flower, onion, parsley, and egg to the bowl; combine the mixture. Mold the fish into patties.
Heat oil in a large skillet over a medium-high heat. Fry the patties on both sides until golden brown. Drain on paper towels before serving.
