Banana Bonanza: Boosting Your Garden and Satisfying Your Taste Buds!
#BananaGardening #FoodWasteSolutions #GardenBoost
Today, we are back, and I am showing you how old bananas can be used to give you, your plants, and your garden a boost. We often throw away bananas when they start to go brown and bruised, but there are so many fun and delicious uses for them, and no, we are not making banana bread.
Banana skins contain nutrients that our plants love. While they can be added straight to the compost heap, I've been trialing a new plant food. Now, I have been seeing good results using it, but as I always say, guys, I'm no gardening or garden expert, just a guy who likes to have fun and show you my garden. When you sprinkle the banana plant food onto your plants or flowers in the garden, make sure to water the powder in.
Once you have given your plants a treat, surely you have earned one too! Our delicious banana and cinnamon rolls are tasty and a great way to stop food waste by utilizing your old bananas. Be careful not to use too much flour as that will make them too tough.
I hope you have all had a great week, and I love you all! ❤️
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Peel and mash your old bananas, making sure to keep the skins on a baking tray.
2) Add in 170g banana, 150g self-raising flour, and a good scoop of brown sugar to the bowl and mix until it forms a dough.
3) This dough will be sticky, so using flour and wet hands, roll it out until it is around 1/2cm thick. Brush over some melted vegan butter and sprinkle a good amount of cinnamon.
4) Cut this into strips and roll them up into swirls.
5) Bake both the banana skins and swirls in the oven at gas mark five for around 30 minutes. (The skins may take longer to crisp up)
6) Break the skins down into a powder to feed your garden plants, and sprinkle some icing sugar on the banana swirls to enjoy!
I hope you enjoy!
