Healthy Black Bean Soup | Jamie Oliver
Kick-start a healthy new year with Jamie’s spicy and colourful Black Bean Soup recipe inspired by his recent travels to Costa Rica. Black beans have the highest protein content so not only is this dish delicious it’s good for you too. The chilli and herbs add a beautiful depth of flavour while the eggs softly poached in the soup add a creaminess and a vibrant colour. Serve with a fresh salsa and tortillas. Filling, tasty and full of sunshine.

Healthy Black Bean Dip Spread and Pizza Sauce
Make this healthy bean dip/spread/pizza sauce and it will disappear!

Black Bean Dip/Spread/Pizza Sauce:
1 16-oz can black beans, drained
1 4-oz can chopped green chilies, undrained
1 tsp. bouillon
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried cilantro or trimmed fresh (so much better!)

In this recipe, I will show you how to make a nice batch of your own using only a few basic ingredients. It's super easy and quick to make but a very tasty recipe. Black Bean Burgers
Here is what you will need!
RECIPE:
Yields 4 patties
Ingredients:
2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
1 onion, minced
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 carrots, shredded
1/2 cup quick oats
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp cumin1/2 tsp coriander1/2 tsp chili powder1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in a pan. Combine onions, garlic, salt, and pepper and cook until onions are translucent. Add carrots, cumin, coriander, chili powder, and cayenne pepper until carrots are tender. Remove pan from heat.
In a bowl, mash the beans and then add the contents of the pan along with the soy sauce and quick oats. Mix and form four patties. Place in freezer for 30 minutes to set. Cook patties on a pan coated in cooking spray over medium heat, flipping halfway. Use patties to create your dream veggie burger.

How to Make Spicy Black Bean Vegan Pizza
This pizza is not only super tasty, but is loaded with delicious fresh
vegetables and a flavorful protein-rich black bean dip.

Pizza is always a great way to make a healthy meal fun. Somehow just putting vegetables and bean dip in the form of a pizza and baking it makes it more appealing... avocado on top never hurts, either!
Using a bean dip as the sauce on your pizza gives you a protein boost, which we don't always find in vegan pizzas unless we put some tempeh or tofu on top.
We're going to make a spicy lime black bean dip for this pizza - though feel free to swap the lime for apple cider vinegar if you prefer.
Lime Black Bean Dip Ingredients
1 14oz can black beans (1 1/2 cups cooked), drained and rinsed,
Zest and juice of 1 lime (or 1 Tbsp concentrated lime juice or ACV)
1 tablespoon tamari, or soy sauce
1/4 cup fresh cilantro (or parsley), chopped
1 teaspoon cumin*
Pinch cayenne pepper*
*or 1 1/2 tsp chili powder
Pizza Ingredients
2 whole wheat pitas or tortillas, or a pizza crust
1 tomato, sliced thinly
Pinch freshly ground black pepper
1 carrot, grated (or red pepper, thinly sliced)
Pinch sea salt
1 red onion, thinly sliced
1 avocado, sliced
