Hi #Allies!
Congee is a traditional Chinese savory dish best served for breakfast along with your favorite Chinese donut (油条 youtiao). When I was growing up, my mom never failed to make me this comfort food when I was feeling sick or after a visit to the dentist. Old people love it and so will you! My parents showed me this amazingly easy and fast recipe! All you need is 30 minutes and you will have the most amazing congee ever! Congee can be customized to your taste preferences. You can find this dish at most Dim Sum and Chinese take-out restaurants. Give this a try and let me know how it goes! Be sure to snap me photos.
XO,
Ally

Ingredients

Makes about 4 servings:
1 cup of frozen jasmine rice (washed)
7 cups of water
3 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup dried scallop
1/2 cup green onion
meat of your choice (I used 2 cup duck meat)
salt to taste
optional:
ginger strips
white pepper
century egg or preserved egg
Chinese donut
The night before, wash 1 cup of jasmine or glutinous rice. Put into a container and freeze overnight. The next day, bring a pot of water to boil along with your dried scallops. The scallops should fall apart in the pot. Once boiled, add in your frozen rice. Let cook on medium to high heat for 15 minutes. Observe the texture and if it is too thin, continue cooking for 10 extra minutes at a time. Salt to taste. Once the texture is achieved, add in your cooked meat, green onions, ginger, and white pepper! You can add anything you like to this delicious base. Serve hot with some Chinese donut 油条 and enjoy!

Japanese Food is NOT Healthy #Shorts

Wait... Then why does Japan approve so many food additives in the first place?
Horrifying fact: some studies point out that Japan approves the largest number of food additives in the world. While most countries only have about a few dozens of allowable food additives, Japan is said to have more than 1,500 kinds. Of course not all of them are harmful, but some of them are banned in many foreign countries.
For example, the food coloring agent called red #2 (included in jelly and soft drinks) is believed to increase the risk of cancer and hives.
Trans-fatty acids (included in bread and snacks) is said to increase the risk of myocardial infarction, strokes, and dementia.
The food additives have all been officially approved by the government as “unharmful against humans after undergoing rigorous investigation, however many scientists in Japan question the following:
1. The experiments have only been done on animals
2. They have only tested each food additive one at a time and haven't checked what would happen upon intaking multiple kinds on long terms
3. Many of these food additives are confirmed by WHO as cancer-causing/brain damaging
Unfortunately, you may be trading the rest of your healthy life for Japan's colorful and delicious-looking foods.

One of the most classic breakfast dishes you can find in Thailand is congee or jok. Congee is originally Chinese, but the Thai version has its own unique style namely we use jasmine rice for more aromatic porridge, and we always add tender, delicious pork meatballs.
This version I'm showing you uses leftover rice, and is super quick and easy and cooks in 15 minutes!

SECRET REVEALED! RICE COOKER RECIPE-Century Egg & Pork Congee 电饭锅皮蛋瘦肉粥
This recipe is supposedly close to Hong Kong style congee which has a thick and sticky texture to the porridge. While some might find century eggs unbearable to eat or even smell, many of us Chinese love love love century eggs. We can eat them on its own with some pickled ginger. If you are not a fan of century eggs, you can always replace the non-congee based ingredients with other ingredients such as seafood, chicken or fish. The basics of making the congee remains the same.
Hope you can recreate this yummy dish in the comfort of your home. Thanks for dropping by our channel.
