1 Frozen puff pastry sheet 2 lg Cooking apples; peeled; and -thinly sliced 2 tb Raisins 1 tb Sugar -mix with 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1 Egg -beat with 1 tsp water Thaw pastry 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350F. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry to 1 12x15" rectangle. Place on ungreased baking sheet; arrange apples down the center. Sprinkle with raisins and cinnamon-sugar. Brush edges of dough with egg wash. Roll up jelly roll style with seam side down. Turn ends under, brush with egg wash. Make diagonal slits across the top at 2" intervals. Bake for 35-40 minutes. -----

ingredients :
1 apple juice of half a lemon 2 tbsp of brown sugar 1/2 tsp of cinnamon 250g of rectangular puff pastry 1/4 cup of walnuts (30g) some raisins (about 15g) 4 tbsp of any jam you like ( I used apricot jam) 1 egg yolk 1 tbsp of milk
Apple -3 nos Butter - 1 tbsp Sugar - 3 tbsp Cinnamon powder- 1/2 tsp
Custard Filling
Egg Yolks -3 nos Corn Starch - 2 tbsp Sugar -1/4 cup Milk 1 cup Vanilla Essence- 1 tsp
Whipping Cream - 1cup Sugar - 3 tbsp Puff Pastry Sheets Bake at 180C for 10-12 mins
Easy Apple Strudel made with Filo Pastry
Made with walnuts and easy filo pastry. A simple Apple Strudel recipe. Apple strudel is a German and Austrian style dish that’s been well adopted by the Italians and many other countries. The classic strudel is made with apples but of course you can also use other fruits. Make sure you buy a good quality cooking apple so they don’t fall apart during the cooking process. This version is made using sheets of filo pastry, it’s not authentic I know, but it’s quicker and much easier than making it from scratch. I also like to toast the breadcrumbs so they resemble more of a biscuit base, this adds another level of flavour and also absorbs any moisture from the apples, resulting in a very crispy outside. I like mine packed with apples, but that’s a personal choice, you may like to roll them a little thinner. Either way, enjoy my Simple Apple Strudel with a side of vanilla bean ice cream or freshly whipped double cream
