Dark Chocolate (for covering sides and top of cake)
▢1 block (180 g) dark chocolate (50% dark)

The best Black Forest Cake - How to Bake Authentic Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte
Baking a Black Forest Cake requires a bit of work but the result is very well worth it!
This traditional and authentic recipe shows you step by step how to bake a German Black Forest Cake and decorate it.
First, bake the chocolate cake, then make the cream filling, add the cherry liquor to the cake layers, fill the cake between the layers with cherries and cream, lastly, decorate the cake in the traditional wey with chocolate shavings, cream and cherries.
Please don't mind the sound in the video. My microphone seems to be broken and sometimes creates static noises, so I had to switch to the backup microphone in some scenes.

Super Easy Sour Cherry Cake (Meggyes Lepény)
Sour cherries are very popular in Hungary; we make lots of desserts, and even soup with them. This light cake is easy to make as you only need to combine a few ingredients, add the cherries and bake. It is a perfect dessert after the hearty Hungarian soups such as Goulash ( or an afternoon snack with tea or coffee.
/The music is based on a Hungarian folk song, played and made by my husband, MrStick© 2016 - (all rights reserved)/
Ingredients (for 6)
25dkg (0,55lbs) flour
25dkg (0,55lbs) sugar
40 dkg (0,88lbs) sour cherries (de-seeded, fresh or canned)
4 eggs
1dl (3,4floz) oil
1dl (3,4floz) water
1tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1. Preheat your oven to 180C (356F)
2. Separate the egg yolks from the whites
3. Add the sugar to the egg yolks then mix well until pale and fluffy
4. Add the oil and combine thoroughly
5. Pour in the water and stir well
6. Add the flour and the baking powder and stir well until smooth
7. Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whip them to form firm peaks
8. Add the egg whites to the batter and gently fold them in (try not to break them)
9. Grease a 25x35 cm (10x14) baking pan with oil or butter then add some flour and move the pan around to get it covered
10. Pour the batter into the baking pan, and shake the pan a little to get a straight surface
11. Drop the cherries on top of the batter and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until golden (and a toothpick comes out clean)
