How To make Black Bean Soup 2
1 lb Black beans
1 1/2 lb Slab bacon or 2 smoked
-ham hocks (1 1/2 to 2 lb) 8 c Water
2 ts Celery salt
2 c Chicken/beef broth
1 1/2 tb Olive oil
1 1/2 c Finely chopped seeded
-cored green peppers 1 1/2 c Finely chopped onions
1 1/2 tb Finely minced
-garlic 1 ts Ground cumin
1 cn (19-oz) tomatoes peeled
-diced with juice about -2 1/2 cups 1/4 c Red wine vinegar
2 tb Finely chopped fresh
-coriander optional 1 ea Sieved hard cooked egg
Place beans, bacon or ham hocks, water and celery salt in heavy kettle. Bring to boil; cover and simmer about 2 1/2 hours or until beans are thoroughly tender. Remove bacon or ham hocks; set aside. Drain beans and reserve along with meat and cooking liquid. There should be about 6 cups of beans and 4 cups of liquid. Add enough broth to make 6 cups liquid. Combine the beans with liquid in large bowl. Heat oil in heavy kettle; add peppers, onions, garlic and cumin. Cook, stirring, until onions are wilted. Add tomatoes and vinegar. Let simmer about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, remove and discard skin from bacon, or
skin and bones from ham hocks. Chop ham; set aside. Add beam mixture to cooked tomato mixture. Add chopped meat and coriander. Simmer until thoroughly heated. Serve in soup bowls; garnish with sieved hard cooked egg, if desired.

Unlike many other bean recipes I've developed in the past, there is no need to soak the black beans; the fact that they take a while to go from dried to creamy is part of their impact. The flavor the beans contribute as they simmer is a major element of the soup, and while they cook, you’ll have time to pull together the “topper whoppers”—chips, avocado, sour cream, and other finishers.

Healthy Black Bean Soup | Jamie Oliver
Kick-start a healthy new year with Jamie’s spicy and colourful Black Bean Soup recipe inspired by his recent travels to Costa Rica. Black beans have the highest protein content so not only is this dish delicious it’s good for you too. The chilli and herbs add a beautiful depth of flavour while the eggs softly poached in the soup add a creaminess and a vibrant colour. Serve with a fresh salsa and tortillas. flavor packed black bean soup
For the recipe I did
1qt cooked black beans
1qt chicken stock
1 red onion
2 carrots
1 celery
6 garlic
2 jalapeños
2 tbsp chipotle powder
1 tbsp red chili powder
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp coriander
1 tsp oregano
Salt pepper and lime juice

Black Bean Soup Ingredients:
INGREDIENTS
1 onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 celery ribs, finely chopped
1 tomato diced
1⁄2 large red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 cup Vegetable stock (Chicken stock can be used instead)
2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, undrained
Salt/Pepper to taste
1⁄2 tsp each of cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder
2Tbls lemon juice
