How to make a Pina Colada - shaken, not blended ????
This simple combination of rum, pineapple and coconut cream is absolutely the first thing I want in my hand when I’m on holiday. It’s the Puerto Rican national drink, and while there are a hundred different ways of making it I like to keep it simple.
3:06 - If you want to skip straight to how to make a Piña Colada!
SPECS:
60ml (2oz) rum
60ml (2oz) pineapple juice
30ml (1oz) sweetened coconut cream
A fruit wedge and a cocktail cherry to garnish
A skewer or cocktail umbrella to garnish
EQUIPMENT:
A jigger
Shaker tins
A hawthorn strainer
A fine strainer
A hurricane or highball glass
METHOD:
Add all of your ingredients to your shaker tin and fill with ice. Seal the tins together and shake as hard as you can. Pop the tins open and double strain over fresh ice. Garnish with whatever fruit you have to hand, skewered (preferably by a cocktail umbrella!) with a cocktail cherry, and enjoy!

Making A Pina Colada
Listen to some excellent original music while I instruct you on how to make a Pina Colada. In a blender combine 3 tablespoons of cream of coconut, 2 or 3 pineapple rings and 2 oz. of rum. Blend until smooth. Pour into hurricane type glass and garnish with a cherry and pineapple slice. For a lighter version, use 2 oz. of coconut rum with 4 oz. of pineapple juice. Blend until frozen, pour into tall glass and garnish with a cherry and pineapple slice. Enjoy@
Piña Colada Cocktail - Two Ways | Rich Hunt
Welcome a new face to Drinks Tube - it's Tiki God Rich Hunt! He's here to show you two ways to make the Pina Colada cocktail - the classic, blended recipe from the 1950s and a new, lighter version that requires you to shake rather than blend. Both delicious and both made with Bacardi white rum, fresh pineapple and either coconut cream or coconut water. Created in partnership with Bacardi.
Give them both a try and let us know which one you prefer - the classic version or Rich's more modern, lighter recipe.
