1/4 c OIL
2 tb DRY SHERRY
1 t GINGER
1 t SOY SAUCE
1 t GARLIC POWDER
1/4 ts DRY MUSTARD
1/4 ts CHILI POWDER
1/4 ts PEPPER
1/4 ts OREGANO
1/4 ts SAGE
1/4 ts THYME LEAVES, DRIED
1/4 ts GROUND CLOVES
1/4 ts GROUND CINNAMON
1/4 ts SALT
1/4 ts SUGAR
1/4 ts ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
1 lb CHICKEN brEASTS, CUTUP
3 tb ONION, CHOPPED FINELY
2 ea MEDIUM TOMATOES, DICED
1 ea GREEN PEPPER, DICED
IN A SMALL BOWL, STIR TOGETHER 2 TBSP. OIL, SHERRY, AND ALL THE SPICES. SET ASIDE. PLACE THE STIR FRY PAN OVER HIGH HEAT AND ADD 1 TABLESPOON OF OIL. STIR FRY ONION AND PEPPERS UNTIL SOFT. REMOVE VEGETABLES FROM PAN. ADD REMAINING OIL, ADD CHICKEN AND STIR-FRY UNTIL NO LONGER PINK. CUT TO TEST, ABOUT 3 MINUTES. WHEN CHICKEN IS DONE ADD SPICE MIXTURE AND TOMATO AND STIR CONSTANTLY UNTIL MIXTURE BOILS AND THICKENS, ABOUT 1 MINUTE. ADD VEGETABLES BACK INTO PAN AND STIR FRY FOR 1 OR 2 MINUTES OR UNTIL VEGETABLES ARE HEATED THROUGH.

There seemed to be a confusion between what is Chow Mein and Lo Mein. This Soy Sauce Noodles with Chicken is definitely Chow Mein. Chow mein is basically stir fried noodles whereas lo mein is cooked noodles tossed in sauce (without heat). Whichever name you're using to call this, it doesn't matter. Just know that this soy sauce noodles with chicken recipe is really easy and fast to recreate :) These noodles taste best when hot so try not to leave them out for too long before serving. You can also change the chicken breast to any other protein source, add more vegetables or skip the noodles to turn this into a low carb chicken stir fry. Try this healthy noodles recipe for your next meal and you’ll be adding it to your weeknight menu before you know it!

*INGREDIENTS:*(2 servings)
100g noodles (any kind works)
2 chicken breasts
1 tsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp garlic
1 tsp cornstarch/cornflour
2-3 tbsp cooking oil
*Vegetables:*
1/2 red bell pepper/capsicum
1/2 green bell pepper/capsicum
1 small carrot
1 small broccoli
2 green onions
*Stir Fry Sauce:*
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic paste
1/2 tsp ginger paste (optional)
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp cornstarch/cornflour
(Taste and adjust salt if needed)

*SUBSTITUES:*
No dark soy sauce?
Replace with 1 tbsp light or regular soy sauce + 1 tsp sugar. The noodles will have a lighter colour than in the video.
No light soy sauce?
Replace with regular soy sauce
No cornstarch/cornflour?
Replace with 2x all purpose flour
What other vegetables can be used?
Cabbage, snap peas, snow peas, bok choy, mushrooms, bean sprouts.

*TIPS:*
• Spaghetti noodles work great for beginners as it does not break or turn mushy easily
• Ensure the noodles is only 70% cooked. It should be soft on the outside but hard on the inside. It will continue cooking while stir frying
• Ensure the noodles have cooled properly before stir frying or they’ll turn mushy
• The glaze is caused by the cornstarch in the sauce so I highly recommend not skipping it
• Don’t cook the chicken for too long in the beginning. Add the veggies once it gets a sear so that it’s not overcooked at the end
• The stir frying needs to be done in high heat so the vegetables don’t steam and turn soggy

5 Spice Chicken and Pear Stir Fry is a unique combination of pears and chicken. Pears are high in fiber and very good for gut health. Chicken is high in protein and together they make a super healthy dish. Pears, chicken and brocolli are sauteed with minimum spices along with soy sauce. Ingredients
½ tsp five spice powder
2 U.S. Chicken Breasts, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 medium USA Pear
1½ tbsps oil
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
1-2 red chillies, diagonally sliced
2 tsps dark soy sauce
12-15 broccoli florets, blanched and drained
Sesame oil for drizzling
White sesame seeds for garnish
Method
1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add ginger and sauté for a few seconds.
2. Cut the USA Pear into 1 inch pieces. Discard the seeds.
3. Add red chillies into the pan. Add the U.S. Chicken and sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Add dark soy sauce and five spice powder and continue to cook on high heat for 4-5 minutes.
4. Add the cut pears and toss well. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
5. Add broccoli florets and toss again. Take the pan off the heat and transfer into a bowl/ Drizzle sesame oil and garnish with white sesame seeds and serve hot.
