How to make French Toast (Lisa's Recipe)
Making French Toast is pretty easy. I like to use homemade bread, but any thick cut bread will work. French toast actually works better if the bread is a few days old or a bit stale. For every 2 slices of bread, you will need: 1 egg 1/3 cup milk dash of cinnamon dash of vanilla or a small dollop of vanilla bean paste (optional) 1 teaspoon sugar Directions: Preheat a frying pan or grill/griddle on medium heat. Grease with butter or oil. If the pan is non-stick, use a very small amount of butter. While pan is heating: In a shallow bowl that will fit your slices of bread, whisk egg well. Add cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar (if using). Add milk and mix well. Dip each slice of bread in the egg/milk mixture. Coat both sides well and place each piece of dipped bread on the skillet or pan. Cook at medium heat about 2 minutes each side, until golden brown.
Top with maple syrup or any toppings you would like. Extra pieces can be cooled, wrapped in plastic wrap and refrigerated or frozen.
