Making Lebkuchen
One of Switzerland's best-loved Christmas specialities -Lebkuchen or gingerbread cake - was first made by monks with access to exotic spices from the Mediterranean. Every canton has its own recipe, but one of the most popular contains roasted hazelnuts. It's made right here in Bern by the Tschirren confectioners, and exported all over the world.
