Cinnamon-Crisp Coffee Cake - our 2023 Recipe of the Year!
Drum roll please... King Arthur Baking's 2023 Recipe of the Year is Cinnamon-Crisp Coffee Cake! Every January, our team is thrilled to unveil the newest Recipe of the Year - and 2023 is extra special because it's our TENTH year of doing it. In this video, Kye Ameden shows you how to make Cinnamon-Crisp Coffee Cake, which is the first of ten different coffee cake variations, in honor of our 10th anniversary. Crowned with cinnamon-scented crumbs and hiding a layer of sweet, fudgy filling, this coffee cake may look like a classic rendition, but it's our perfected version of the traditional breakfast sweet. We’ve updated the mixing method to use reverse creaming, a foolproof way to prevent overmixing and ensure a tender cake. Try your hand at making your own snackable cake that’s wildly adaptable and utterly irresistible - and tell your friends about the 2023 Recipe of the Year!

The perfect accompaniment to your morning coffee is, unsurprisingly, a confection known as coffee cake. Containing no actual coffee, it is instead a lightly sweetened pound cake that's essentially just a vehicle to get streusel into your mouth as quickly and efficiently as possible. Maybe just make the streusel part and eat it by the spoonful if nobody is around to judge you.

Make Your Own Panera-Style Cinnamon-Sugar Crunch Bagels
Kye is back in the kitchen to show you how to make, boil, bake, and top your very own Cinnamon-Sugar Crunch Bagels. This recipe is our best attempt to turn that crispy chewy sweet bagel you know from Panera into a homemade delight. A riff on our 2022 Recipe of the Year, Ultimate Sandwich Bagels, these bagels are topped with a sweet cinnamon mixture before they’re baked, forming a crackly, craggy crust — and filling your kitchen with a cinnamon bun aroma in the process. The addition of Cinnamon Sweet Bits in the dough itself hammers home the cinnamon flavor, while coarse sparkling sugar in the topping contributes to the extra crunchy texture.
