How To make Kahlua Cake
BASE:
2 c Graham wafers
1/2 c Butter, melted
1/4 c White sugar
FIRST LAYER:
2 pk 3 1/4 oz. Chocolate pudding
3 c Milk
SECOND LAYER:
2 pk Vanilla instant pudding
2 c Milk
1/2 c Kahlua
2 c Whipping cream, whipped
(BASE): Mix ingredients and press into bottom of pan. (FIRST LAYER): Cook both packages of pudding using only 3 cups milk, cool and spread on crust. (SECOND LAYER): Make both packages of vanilla pudding using only 2 cups of milk and mix in Kahlua. In another bowl, make whipped cream or whip 2 envelopes of Dream Whip according to package directions. Gently fold the instant pudding and whipped cream together. Put the vanilla mixture over the chocolate layer. Top with crumbs or grated chocolate bar. Make in a 9 x 13 pan or halve the recipe in an 8 x 8 pan. Tip from Lynne - put in freezer for approx. 15 minutes to firm up to make serving easier (it does firm up by the second day). Tip from Cousin Anne - Don't try to be overly generous with the Kahlua, because she tried and it wasn't as good. Tip from Joan - Make sure you have lots of milk on hand as the Dream Whip requires it too.

Ingredients:
-1 package of German Chocolate Cake mix (any brand works).
-1 large package of chocolate instant pudding mix.
-2 cups of full fat sour cream.
-4 large eggs.
-2/3 cup of vegetable oil.
-6ozs (3/4 cup) of chocolate chips.
-1/2 cup of Kahlua.
Prep:
-In a large bowl mix the cake mix and pudding together just until incorporated.
-Add the remaining ingredients: sour cream, eggs, vegetable oil, chocolate chips and Kahlua. With a hand mixer on low speed mix until incorporated and starts to get fluffy. About 2 minutes.
-Drop into a greased bunt cake pan of your choice.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes.
-Let cool before removing from pan and enjoy.

Chocolate Kahlua Cake
Trying this cake by scratch for the first time. I created this recipe. I figured since the box version has a box of chocolate pudding and that has cornstarch then I need to add some cornstarch to the recipe. This recipe came out great! The cake has a great flavor and is super moist!
2 cups all-purpose flour minus 4 tablespoons
4 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, Dutch-process, sifted (2-1/4 oz, 64g)
1½ tsp baking soda
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 cup sour cream, (4 oz, 113g)
1 cup canola oil
1/2 cup Kahlua
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Simple syrup
1/4 granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
Heat over med heat till dissolved allowed cool before brushing on cakes
Cream cheese frosting
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 stick butter
1/2 stick butter crisco
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup dutch processed cocoa
Pinch salt
Tablespoon of milk if the frosting is too thick just use judgement on how much to add
Bake at 350 degrees
Sift flour and cocoa powder add baking soda, baking powder and salt. Next add eggs, sour cream and oil and mix for a couple minutes to incorporate all ingredients. Mix in vanilla and kahlua and pour into 2-8 inch pans sprayed with Pam or for easier removal use parchment paper in your pans. Bake 30-45 min when toothpick comes out with some moist crumbs and allow to cool in pan for 10-15 then remove to rack to cool 15 more min
Cream Cheese frosting
Mix all ingredients together on high speed until fluffy
Kahlua Cake ~ aka ~ Black Russian Cake
Kahlua Cake:
1/4 cup Kahlua
1/4 cup vodka
1 pkg yellow cake mix
1 pkg (4 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
4 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients at medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 F for 45-50 minutes until wooden toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Turn out onto wire cooling rack or cake plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving (if desired).
