20 Ice cream cones -(flat bottoms) 1 pk Cake mix, -prepared as directed Preheat oven to 350. Place ice cream cones in muffin tins or use a large flat baking sheet. Fill cups 1/2 full with cake batter. Be careful not to overfill or the batter will run down the sides of the cones. Bake 18 to 23 minutes (or as directed on package for cupcakes). Done when center springs back when lightly touched. Frost as desired when cool. These are best when eaten same day or the cone will get soggy. Makes about 20 from one box of cake mix. How To Make A Loaded Melting Ice Cream Cake
In this video, you'll see just how easy it is to make one of these melting ice cream style drippy cakes.
For the sponge, I used my easy vanilla cake recipe and filled with my £ ingredient buttercream and lashings of strawberry jam - such a classic combination but it works!
To make the donuts, I used a silicone donut mould and filled with choclate cake batter -
Cream 50g butter and 50g sugar together. Add in 1 egg and 40g self raising flour plus 15g cocoa. this is enough to fill the 6 hole donut mold. Bake for 10-15 minutes on 160 degrees fan. allow to cool in the mold fully before removing.
I used melted chocolate spread for the donuts and melted white chocolate spread for the ice cream drip. The bonus in using this is not only is it super tasty, you can also use normal gel food colours to dye it. The won't come out as bright but it was perfect for this cake and looked just like strawberry ice cream! Load the rest of your cake with whatever goodies you fancy and have a play around with some fun colour combinations too!
