Are doctors and health professionals alike spreading a misinformed message around eating a ‘balance diet’ for good health? Join your host Steve Bennett and general practitioner, Dr Dan Maggs on why the government guidelines have contributed to the rise of obesity, type 2 diabetes and other chronic health conditions.
As a general practitioner (GP), you’d think Dr Dan Maggs would know how to get his weight problems under control. Yet despite several attempts – adhering to a ‘balanced diet’ as specified in the UK’s national dietary guidelines – he found himself clinically obese in his early 30s. Thankfully, a chance encounter while on holiday in 2016 led to him discovering the power of a primal diet, built around a low carbohydrate intake. In the following six months, he lost an incredible five stone (31kg) and rapidly normalised his weight! Losing so much weight by going against government advice and ignoring mainstream dietary guidelines led him to question much of what he learned during medical training

Biscuits and gravy, THM style! - THM S
Who doesn’t love biscuits and gravy? Linked below is the recipe for the biscuits. For the gravy I just cooked up sausage, in any amount you want, add some xanthan gum. It doesn’t take much just a little sprinkle over your sausage. Add some heavy cream and some almond milk and cook until it’s nice and thick. I had a lot of pepper to mine.
I cooked my biscuits in the air fryer for five minutes. They came out perfect. The only deviation from the recipe is I wisked my egg whites to soft peaks before adding to the mix.
