Fatty Liver Symptoms | Early Signs of Fatty Liver Disease | Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Here we have discussed Fatty liver disease warning signs.
1. Initially you may experience generalised symptoms like Abdominal pain and loss of appetite. The pain is commonly felt in the upper right side of the abdomen.
2. Fluid accumulation in the abdomen also called as ascites. This accumulation of fluid is also responsible for abdominal pain, fullness, nausea, bloating and sometimes difficulty in breathing
3. Unintentional weight loss
4. Muscle wasting
Muscle wasting is one of the major complications of end-stage liver disease. It is found in approximately 40% of patients with cirrhosis.
5. Jaundice. It is a condition that causes your skin and whites of your eyes to turn yellow. This is due to altered liver function and excess accumulation of bilirubin under the skin.
6. The liver cells are involved in the synthesis of most blood coagulation factors, such as fibrinogen, prothrombin, factor V, VII, IX, X, XI, XII, as well as protein C and S. Those factors help in blood clotting. Fatty liver is responsible for decreased production of coagulation factors. As a result you can experience easy bruising or bleeding.
7. Other sign is web-like clusters of blood vessels under your skin which is called spider angioma or spider telangiectasia. The lesion contains a central, red spot and reddish extensions which radiate outward like a spider's web. Multiple spider angiomas are characteristic of chronic liver disease with a specificity of 95%
8. Temporary neurological disorders called hepatic encephalopathy. When the liver doesn’t work properly, toxins build up in the blood. These toxins can travel to the brain and affect brain function. People with hepatic encephalopathy may seem confused and irritated. Additionally there can be Balance problems and altered personality.
9. Dark coloured urine and pale stool.
10. In men, fatty liver disease is responsible for breast enlargement.
11. Dilated veins under your skin. This can be a symptom of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
