VORSCHMACK | Appetizer of Herring
Vorschmack or forshmak is an originally East European dish made of salty minced fish.
1/2 red onion
Small green apple
Salted herring
3 boiled eggs
30 g butter
Pass all the ingredients through a meat grinder or use a blender.
Dry bread 3-5 minutes each side.
Spread dried bread with mincemeat and garnish with green onions.
Enjoy your meal!

Delicious and Easy Forshmak - Jewish Cured Herring Salad
Good old fashioned Jewish appetizer . If you love salted herrings it is right up your street ! I make it as a salad but throw all in a blender - and get another version of this dish - a spread for a rye bread.
Generous party size portion :
500 g salted herrings drained weight. ( plain, just salted, possibly lemon acid too).
100 g butter, 3 eggs, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tsp vinegar, 1 small onion, some spring onions, 1 large apple, black pepper
Dill and lemon for the decorations, serve with toasted rye bread
A more economical version - substitute some of the herrings with some milk soaked white bread and use oil instead of butter.

Simple snack.Fish appetizer.Forshmak. Quick recipe.
Ingredients: Herring fillet 2 - 200 gr., Egg 1 piece, apple 100 gr. , onion 100 gr., mustard sauce 1 teaspoon, vegetable oil 1teaspoon , ground black pepper ½ teaspoon, lemon Cut the herring, egg, apple (peel), cut the onion into pieces and mix with a blender. Add vegetable oil, mustard, pepper to the prepared mixture. Mix. Decorate with a slice of lemon.
P.S. A couple of drops of lemon juice will help you quickly get rid of the herring smell when washing your hands and dishes.
