Betty's Dr. Pepper Chocolate Cake
Betty demonstrates how to make Dr. Pepper Chocolate Cake. This is a cake that features the popular Dr. Pepper soda.
Dr. Pepper Chocolate Cake
1 ½ cups Dr. Pepper soda
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup butter
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
½ cup buttermilk
cooking oil spray
Heat Dr. Pepper, oil, butter, and cocoa powder in saucepan over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and set aside. In a medium-sized bowl, stir together sugar, flour, and baking soda and add to the mixture in the saucepan. Mix well and set aside. In a large bowl, lightly beat the eggs and buttermilk together, using low speed of an electric mixer. Add mixture from the saucepan to the egg/buttermilk mixture. Stir until batter is smooth. Pour batter into a 13-inch by 9-inch by 2-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 20 to 25 minutes. When a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, the cake is done. Do not overcook the cake. Remove from oven and cool until just warm before coating with Creamy Chocolate Cake Frosting, which will the next video in Betty's Kitchen. I hope you love this cake! Dr. Pepper Cake with Butter Cream Frosting
Recipe:
Dr. Pepper Cake
Heat in sauce pan:
Melt together
1 cup Dr. Pepper
1/2 cup oil
1 stick butter
3 T cocoa
In mixing bowl:
dry ingredients
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
Add sauce pan ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir. Add:
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
Bake 350° in greased and floured 9x13 baking pan
Frosting:
melt together in sauce pan:
1 stick butter
3 Tbsp cocoa
add: 3 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
6 Tbsp cream or milk
Pour over warm cake.
Or for Butter Cream Frosting:
2 sticks butter
Whip for 5 minutes
Add 3 cups powdered sugar slowly

INGREDIENTS
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup Dr. Pepper
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
Frosting
3/4 cup unsalted butter
5 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup Dr. Pepper
4 cups powder sugar
Preheat oven 350 degrees, grease 9x13 pan, in large bowl add flour ,sugar and salt, whisk well, then stir in mimi marshmallows and set aside, don't pre-melt the marshmallows, add them to dry ingredients, they will rise to the top of the cake while baking and form a chewy layer, in medium saucepan, add the butter, dr pepper, oil and cocoa powder, bring to a boil and then pour over dry ingredients and mix well. Add the baking soda into the buttermilk, stir and then pour into the batter, add in the eggs and vanilla extract and mix until the ingredients are well incorporated, pour into pan and bake for 35-40 minutes. Prepare frosting while cake bakes, once cake is baked, set on wire rack to cool for 15 minutes then add frosting to the warm cake. Add the 4 cups of powder sugar to a large mixing bowl and set aside, in a saucepan, add the 3/4 cup butter, 5 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and 1/3 cup dr pepper ,bring the mixture to a boil and then pour it over the 4 cups of powder sugar, add in the vanilla and mix well, pour over the warm cake, let the frosting firm up before cutting and serving.

Dr Pepper Cake Recipe - Glen And Friends Cooking - How To Make Dr Pepper Cake
This is the easiest Dr Pepper chocolate cake recipe you'll ever make. The dense, moist, rich, chocolate flavour is accompanied by a simple chocolate icing. We based this Dr. Pepper cake recipe on our buttermilk chocolate cake recipe, and it's a real winner. We used Dr. Pepper in this cake, but any soda pop could be used in this soda pop cake recipe.
Ingredients:
250 mL (1 cup) Dr Pepper / Coke / Pepsi / Root Beer
250 mL (1 cup) white sugar
125 mL (½ cup) brown sugar
115g (4 ounces) bittersweet chocolate 70%
115g (125 mL / ½ cup) butter
500 mL (280g / 2 cups) all-purpose flour
10 mL (2 tsp) baking soda
5 mL (1 tsp) baking powder
5 mL (1 tsp) coarse salt
250 mL (1 cup) buttermilk
2 eggs
5 mL (1 tsp) pure vanilla extract
15 mL (1 Tbsp) chocolate liqueur (optional)
Icing:
115g (4 ounces) bittersweet chocolate 70%
250 mL (1 cup) butter
Pinch salt
60 mL (¼ cup) Dr Pepper
5 mL (1 tsp) pure vanilla extract
15 mL (1 Tbsp) chocolate liqueur (Optional)
4 cups powdered sugar - approximate
Method:
Preheat the oven to 190ºC (375°F).
Put the pop, sugars, chocolate, and butter in a saucepan.
Stir over medium heat until fully melted and blended.
Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
In a small bowl, stir together the buttermilk, vanilla, and chocolate liqueur.
Grease, flour and line 2 - 9 cake pans with parchment.
Whisk the milk mixture and eggs into the slightly cooled chocolate mixture.
Whisk in the dry ingredients, in 2-3 additions.
Divide the batter between the pans and bake about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool completely, then remove from the pans and cool on a rack.
Meanwhile, make the icing.
Using your preferred method - melt the chocolate, then let cool almost to room temperature.
Cream the butter, and add in about ¼ of the icing sugar.
Whisk in the melted chocolate, vanilla, liqueur and salt.
Slowly whisk in just enough icing sugar to stiffen and attain desired sweetness.
Ice as a layer cake.
