12 minutes (Instant -Pot) DAL Recipe | SUPER EASY | Healthy!
What recipes do you miss that your mom made for you?
DAL is a staple dish eaten in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. I guess you can call it Lentil Soup. It’s rich in protein and carbs but very filling and can be made with ease after a long day. Traditionally the spices are tempered separately but with INSTANT POT You no longer need to.
Ingredients
——————
-1/2 Yellow Onion (diced)
-1 Red Vine Tomato (diced)
-3-4 Garlic Minced
-2 Dried Red Chili
-1 1/2 cup Moong Dal (Split Moong Beans)
-1/2 cup Masoor Dal (Split Red Lentils)
Spices
————
-1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
-1/4 Tsp Turmeric
-1 Tbsp Red Chili Powder / Cayne
-1 Tsp Coriander Powder
-2 Tsp Salt (Adjust to taste)
1. Start off by washing your dal. Then dice onions, tomatoes, and mince garlic.
2. Sauté the onions until translucent with cumin seeds and 2 dried chilies, either using 1 Tbsp ghee or butter.
3. Add in the garlic and Sauté for 2 minutes. Followed by tomato until it’s soft.
4. Add in all the spices followed by the washed dal. Mix the dal with the spices.
5. Add 6 Cups of water to have a thicker consistency. You can always add more water after the dal is cooked.
6. Pressure Cook on HIGH for 12 Minutes.
Finish off by adding Cilantro and Lemon or Lime.
Serve with white rice. ENJOY!

Kashmiri Chili Powder:
See how I make Chana Daal Restaurant Style.
Ingredients:
250g chana daal (soaked for 4 hours)
750ml water or 3 mugs
1 large onion blitzed coarsely
1 large tomato blitzed
1/2 cup oil
2 teaspoons of salt, coriander powder & deghi mirch (kashmeri chilli powder)
1 teaspoon of regular chilli powder & turmeric.
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds and 1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger & garlic or 1 tablespoon of the paste/puree
fresh coriander to garnish
1/2 tablespoon garam masala
water in a jug

Dal Tadka
Total - ½ cup Dal for 4 servings.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup masoor dal / dehusked brown lentils
1/8 cup moong dal / skinned, split green gram
1/8 cup tuvar / arhar dal / pigeon pea lentils
You can use any combination amount ratio
Water - to wash, soak, and cook
Haldi - ½ tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Ghee - 2-3 tbsp
Oil - 0.5 - 1 tbsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Hing / Asafoetida - ¼ tsp
Dried Red Chilli - 4
Curry leafs - 1 sprig
Ginger - 1 ½ inch
Garlic - 5- 8 cloves
Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
Tomato - 1 small, finely chopped
Green chili - 2
Haldi - a dash
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Dhaniya powder - 1 tsp
Kasuri methi - ½ tsp
Salt - to season
Coriander Leafs - 1 tbsp
Butter - 1 tbsp

This dal recipe is very famous in Pakistan. It is a specialty of a restaurant situated in Lalamusa city of Pakistan. This dal is made using three different lentils and served with hot desi ghee. People around the country are crazy about this dal and their tandoori paratha.
Ingredients:
Boiling Dal-
Dal Chana 1.5cups
Dal Masoor 1/4cups
Dal Mash/Urad 1/4cups
Turmeric 1/2tsp
Water 3cups
Salt 1.5tsp
Ghee 1/2cup
Garlic 5cloves
Boiled Dal
Cumin 1/2tsp
Black Pepper 1tsp
Water 1/2cup
Ghee 1/2cup for Tarka
