How To make Cliff's Pizza Topping
1 lg Bell pepper, green, chopped
1 lg Bell pepper, red, chopped
1 md Onion, chopped
1 lg Tomato, sliced into rounds
1 c Mozzarella cheese, shredded
(Use more or less to taste)
Sprinkle cheese on rolled out pizza pie (1/2 recipe of Marty's pizza dough). Tope with chopped peppers and onions, cover with round tomato slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook for about 20 to 25 minutes on 450 degrees, or until crust is brown and cheese
melted. (I omit pizza sauce for this one. If you've never tried it... try it just once, you might be surprised how good it is without sauce. Make sure the pizza is completely covered with vegetables, sometimes I use very finely chopped broccoli with this as well, and if I feel adventurous, jalapeno peppers).

Broccoli Scaccia is a favorite from my native city of Ragusa.
This is a traditional treat which is enjoyed on picnics and when people get together. I hope that you will try and enjoy this novel way to eat broccoli!
Ingredients:
Dough for Scaccie or Broccoli Pies, makes 2
8 cups flour
1 Tablespoon SAFInstant Yeast
1/2 cup lard or Vegetable Shortening
1 Tablespoon salt
2 cups warm water
Filling for 2 Scaccie
Dough divided in half
2 bunches of broccoli
2 cloves garlic, chopped
6 ozs tomato pate
1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 Lb.Italian Pork Sausage with casing removed OR 1 package of vegan sausage (Field roast, beyond sausage)

Tomasini | Kitchen on the Cliff with Giovanna Bellia LaMarca
Enjoy my recipe for Tomasini: a delicious ricotta and sausage filled pastry. The full recipe can be found in my cookbook, Sicilian Feasts, but the ingredients can be found below, as always. If you make these yourself, don't forget to send me your creations!
Ingredients:
Dough
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup of water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Shortening (Crisco, or Lard, one or the other or half of each)
2 eggs + 1 beaten egg to brush on top of the Tomasini before baking
1/4 cup water
Filling
1 to 1 1/2 lbs ricotta
1 to 1 1/2 lbs Italian sweet sausage
Place the finished Tomasini in a non stick baking pan or cover the pan with a sheet of parchment paper. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.

1 tbsp fennel seeds
1 1/2 cups water (plus more if needed)
Canola oil for frying
Potato, for cleaning the oil

We spent a weekend in NYC and ate at Lucali's, voted the second best pizzeria in the world (it was worth the line), and climbed at an outdoor bouldering facility in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
