How To make Cheese Straws
2 c UNBLEACHED WHITE FLOUR
1/2 t SALT
1 t CAYENNE PEPPER
8 oz SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE (GRATED
5 oz MARGARINE (MELTED)
1/4 c FLOUR (FOR ROLLING DOUGH)
1 t OIL (FOR BAKING SHEET)
Preheat oven to 400 F. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, cayenne pepper, and cheese thoroughly. Add melted margarine and mix. Chill dough in refrigerator for 20 minutes. Place dough on a large, floured board. Place a large piece of waxed paper on top of dough or use a heavily-floured rolling pin. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thick. Remove wax paper. Holding a fork upside down, draw the prongs vertically along dough from top to bottom, making ridges. With a wide, flat knife cut dough into rectangular shapes 3 x 1 inch. Oil a cookie sheet and place cut cheese on it. Bake in 400 F oven for 10-12 minutes until cheese straws look dry but not brown. Let cool. Repeat procedure until all of dough is baked. Serve at room-temperature. Freezes well. Yields 7 dozen.

Super Easy Puff Pastry Cheese Twists
In this video I go through the steps of making some easy puff pastry cheese twists. These are a great hit at a party or in the kids lunch box.
Full Recipe:
These twists are pretty easy to quickly make and will take about 10 minutes to prepare and 15 minutes in the oven. You will need to make sure the pastry is defrosted before you go to start these.
Below are all the ingredients that I use in this recipe.
• 1 Sheet of puff pastry
• 1/3 Cup shredded cheese
• ¼ Cup parmesan
• 2 tsp. garlic
• 1 tsp oregano
• 1 large egg beaten
• ½ tsp salt
You can add lots of different ingredients to this recipe to create delicious flavour combinations. One of my personal favourites is adding some green pesto to the pastry before I add the cheese. This is just one example of the many variations you can try.
It’s important to make sure you have preheated the oven to the correct temperature before adding the puff pastry cheese twists into the oven. You may find if you add it into a cold oven that the pastry doesn’t puff up very much.
If you’re saving these for later then make sure you let them cool down before storing them. If you store them whilst they’re hot they will likely go soggy and will not be very nice to eat.
I hope you’re able to make this easy puff pastry cheese twists recipe without any issue. If you come across any problems, have feedback or there is anything else that you would love to say then please drop a comment below or over at lazyassmeals.com
