Malted Buttermilk Waffles! Great for Sunday Breakfast! Noreen's Kitchen
Greetings! Sunday is here again and this morning I thought it might be nice to throw together some easy waffles for the family. I also made a warm blueberry compote to put on top of them and boy were these amazing!
Waffles are similar to pancakes wherein all you have to know is the proper formula and you are in like Flynn. So I made waffle batter with all purpose flour, buttermilk, eggs, baking powder, and melted butter. You can also add some sugar if you like, but it is optional.
These came out amazing. Light, fluffy and delicious! Perfect topped with those warm, sweet blueberries!
You can make these as fancy or as plain as you like. They use common pantry ingredients and they turn out fabulous.
Don't have buttermilk? Use plain milk or use buttermilk powder or use a buttermilk substitute made from plain milk and lemon juice or vinegar. For every cup of milk, add two tablespoons of the acid and let it sit for five minutes. Voila'! Buttermilk! Don't sweat the small stuff, make things work for you!
I hope you give this a try and I hope you love it!
Happy Eating!
