How to make Palmiers (easiest pastry ever)
Just arrived in France and No better way to adjust to making recipes again than with the help of some family members :0) My aunt loves to bake the easy way and today she is showing me how to make Palmiers, the easiest pastry treat ever!
Ingredients: 1 roll pre-made good quality puff pastry (250 grams) granulated sugar (80 grams)
Cooking time: 10 minutes in the oven at 240 Celsius ( 464 F)
Notes: cut the pastry in pieces
In this video, I get a hand from my aunt to make this delicious pastry. Also called ‘coeur de France’ because of their heart shape. Literally just puff pastry and sugar (ok, quite a lot of sugar), it could be the most simple pastry you ever make - but the result is divine.
Palmiers are made from puff pastry, a laminated dough similar to the dough used for croissant, but without the yeast. Puff pastry is made with alternating layers of dough and butter, rolled and folded over to create possibly hundreds of flaky layers.

There are places like La Dome, Guy Savoy, Le Cinq, Miura, Pianovins, and many others. Not really my style and very pricey. Why not try La Coupole? This is my style, yes, it is a Cafe Americain and the prices are reasonable: everything yu will see in this video was EUR140 and we did give an American tip because the waiter was polite and fun and made our experience more fun. He acted like a waiter who didn't think he was doing his guests a favor. True, the place does seat a lot of Americans and the management knows it is important NOT to be SNOOTY. Had a similar expereince at HofBrauHaus in Munich: the food in both places was every bit authentic and fine dining without the pretense. Cheers! Pete Hope you guys enjoy this!
