This beautiful Apple Tart tastes as good as it looks! Made with freshly sliced apples and a homemade crust that’s flaky and buttery, this elegant apple tart is a classic dessert. It’s so simple yet so delicious and full of fall flavors, thanks to the apples and cinnamon. It may look complicated due to the shingling of the apple slices, but it’s surprisingly easy, but that’ll be our secret as you bring out this dessert to impress your guests. This apple tart is my go-to recipe whenever I need something easy but fancy-looking. The crust comes together quickly with a food processor, and the apples don’t require a ton of prep work. You can even prepare the tart crust ahead of time.

An easy and quick recipe for the most traditional and tasty apple pie with a surprising twist. It has a flaky, buttery crust and an aromatic, creamy apple pie filling. Great for a breakfast served with a cold glass of milk or with ice cream for the ultimate flavor!

Ingredients
Dough:
2 sheets of puff pastry store-bought
Filling:
Sauté apples
6 large apples, cut in quarters
50gr unsalted butter
1 cinnamon stick
150 gr granulated sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Custard
1 litre milk
150gr granulated sugar
3 egg yolks
2 tablespoons or 40gr all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons or 40gr corn starch
50 gr cold unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preparation of the apple filling:
1. Peel the apples and cut them into quarters.
2. Place a pan over medium heat and let it warm up very well.
3. Add the butter. As soon as it melts add the apples and cinnamon stick.
4. Sauté for 5 minutes stirring occasionally until lightly brown.
5. Reduce heat to low and stir in the sugar. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples are soft and caramelized.
6. Add the vanilla extract and remove it from the heat.
7. Leave the apple mixture to cool down completely.
Preparation of the custard:
1. In a pot add the 700ml of milk and sugar, and transfer over medium heat until the milk comes to a boil.
2. In a separate bowl mix the egg yolks, flour, and corn starch.
3. Gradually add the warm milk to the egg mixture and mix continuously and quickly until all ingredients are combined.
4. Transfer back the mixture over medium heat and stir continuously until the cream thickens.
5. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract, cold butter, and mix until the butter melts.
6. Transfer the custard into a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and place it into the refrigerator to cool down. Make sure that the plastic wrap touches the surface of the custard, so it does not make a crust while cooling.
To assemble:
1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (370° F) set to Fan.
2. On a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper add the first puff pastry sheet.
3. Add the custard mixture and spread with a spoon.
4. Continue by adding on top the apple mixture and spread it evenly.
5. Cover with the second puff pastry sheet and press down the edges with your fingers.
6. Turn now the edges inwards to create a thick crust around the border.
7. With a fork poke a few holes on the surface of the pie, so the steam can escape and it will not puff up too high.
8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry, has risen and is crisp and golden-brown.
9. When ready, remove from the oven and set aside to cool for a bit.
10. Sprinkle with icing sugar and cinnamon. Cut into pieces and serve.

Hold on low heat until thickened.
2 apples, peel and finely chop
Cut another apple into wedges to decorate the cake
Bake for 30 minutes at 180 ° C
