Cream butter and sugar at least 10 minutes by hand, or 5 minutes in electric mixer. The mixture should be thick and white. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. If the baker's ammonia is in granular form, crush to a powder with a rolling pin or a bottle. Sift flour and bakers ammonia together. Stir flour into egg mixture and blend thoroughly. Dough will be soft. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
Cut 6 to 8 -- 8" rounds from waxed paper. Spread the dough thinly and evenly on paper rounds, leaving about half-inch margin to allow for expansion during baking.
Place to or three round (whatever it will hold) on a baking sheet. Bake at 400

Farmhouse Christmas Kitchen | Inspired by The Waltons | Apple Stack Cake
#christmas #theWaltons #applestackcake
Hello friends! I'm back with my Christmas kitchen! Y'all know how much I love the time period and the set design on The Waltons, and I added some of the elements from the set to my kitchen over the past few months, which I shared on my fall kitchen video. I added a few more things and went much simpler than I normally do for Christmas. I really wanted to capture that feel of a real farmhouse kitchen before the internet, pinterest and farmhouse style:-)
I'm making a traditional Apple Stack Cake as well using my great Aunt Kate's recipe, and mother's dried apples for the filling.
***I customized my recipe based on my aunt's version, but this is a good basic apple stack cake recipe:

The Best Fall Cake to Make - Apple Butter Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Hey everyone!
Apple butter cake is a moist and rich spice cake made with apple butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and more, then topped with cream cheese frosting.
This cake smells so good when it’s baking. It fills the room with a comforting apple, cinnamon scent. It’s fast becoming one of my favorite fall cakes.
I hope you love it.
Much love,
Kara
