HOW TO MAKE REFRIED BEANS EXTRA CREAMY AND DELICIOUS: Simple Down Home Recipe
This is one of the most requested recipes I get, and to be honest, it's not much of a recipe so much as it is down home cooking. That said, I suppose there are a couple of tips for making Refried Beans extra creamy and delicious. So, I decided to break it all down as simply as possible in this video. I won't bother to write measurements, like I normally do. But here are a few answers to questions you may have:
When I cook beans in the crockpot, I cook them on Low for six hours. That's just how I do it. They can also be cooked on High if you want them done sooner.
If you cook beans on the stovetop, let them come to a boil, reduce the heat to Low and let them simmer gently for about 2 hours. Just keep an eye on them to make sure the water doesn't evaporate while they're cooking. You may need to add a little or the beans will burn. 2 hours is about the average length of time beans will take to cook, but it will depend on how many beans you're cooking and if you pre-soaked your beans. Use a fork to press down on them, and if they're tender enough to smash easily, they're done.
I find that beans keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If you don't think you'll be using them by then, you can absolutely freeze them. In fact, I sometimes cook large batches of beans just so that I can freeze them in small containers and pull them out when I need them. They keep in the freezer for about six months.

How To Make Refried Beans - Refried Beans Recipe
What is the key to good Refried Beans? Patience. In order to have good Refried Beans you need to cook them down for hours. Resist the temptation to pour off the water and use a blender or food processor. Don't season your beans until the very end. For some reason keeps the beans from becoming tender. I made this mistake my first few times cooking them. I really don't know if this Refried Beans recipe I have is Authentic, I just know that they are good. The peppers and onions I add at the beginning become totally broken down, and are only noticeable by the flavor and heat. The bacon is what makes this a winner. The bacon fat gives it a smooth texture, and the bacon pieces take this to another level. Thanks for watching.

Refried Beans:
The name is based on a mistranslation: in Mexican Spanish, the prefix re- is an informal form of emphasis meaning very or well, which has been confused with the English re-, which indicates repetition. Thus, frijoles refritos really means well-fried beans, not fried-again beans. In this dish, the beans are often fried (once), but may also be baked, thus making the term refried a misnomer on two counts.
Ingredients and preparation
In northern Mexico and in American Tex-Mex cuisine, refried beans are usually prepared with pinto beans, but many other varieties of bean are used in other parts of Mexico, such as black or red beans. The raw beans can be cooked when dry or soaked overnight, then stewed, drained of most of the remaining liquid, and converted into a paste with a masher (such as a potato masher), or pressed through a fine mesh sieve (to remove the skins). Some of the drained liquid, or chicken or vegetable stock, is added if the consistency is too dry. The paste is then baked or fried with lard or vegetable oil and seasoned to taste with salt and spices.
REFRIED BEANS/ FRIJOLES REFRITOS
1 LB DRY PINTO BEANS, 2 TBS OF PORK LARD OR OIL OF YOUR CHOICE, 2 TSP OF SALT, AND ENOUGH WATER TO COOK THE BEANS.
