How To make Spicy Meat Balls 'N Sauce
MEAT BALLS:
1 1/2 lb Ground beef
3/4 c Quaker Oats, uncooked
-- (quick or old-fashioned) 1/4 c Chopped onion
1 ts Salt
1/4 ts Oregano
1/4 ts Pepper
1 Egg
1/2 c Milk
SAUCE:
1/2 c Chopped onion
1/3 c Chopped green pepper
1 lb Canned tomatoes
8 oz Tomato sauce
1/2 ts Salt
1/4 ts Garlic powder
1/4 ts Cayenne
1/4 ts Oregano
1 Bay leaf
For meat balls, combine all ingredients thoroughly. Shape to form 12 meat balls. Brown in a small amount of shortening in large skillet. Remove meat balls. For sauce, lightly brown onion and green pepper in drippings. Add remaining ingredients; simmer over low heat about 15 minutes. Add meat balls to sauce; cover and simmer about 45 minutes. Chicken Meatballs in Sweet and Sour Sauce | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana
Deep fried chicken mince meatballs tossed in sweet and sour sauce.
CHICKEN MEATBALLS IN SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
Ingredients
2 cups chicken mince
2-3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon oil + for deep-frying and greasing
Salt to taste
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
1½ tablespoons chopped ginger
3 teaspoons light soy sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3-4 spring onion bulbs, halved
1-2 green chillies, chopped
1 small red bell pepper, cut into cubes
1 small yellow bell pepper, cut into cubes
1 small green capsicum, cut into cubes
1½-2 tablespoons honey
1-2 stalks spring onion greens, diagonally sliced
Method
1. Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan.
2. Take chicken in a bowl. Add salt, crushed peppercorns, 1 tablespoon chopped garlic, ½ tablespoon chopped ginger and 1 teaspoon soy sauce and mix well. Add cornstarch and mix well.
3. Grease your palms with some oil. Divide the mixture into equal medium portions, shape them into balls and deep-fry in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. To prepare sweet and sour sauce, heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan. Add spring onion bulbs and toss to mix on high heat.
5. Add green chillies and remaining ginger and sauté for 30 seconds.Add remaining garlic and sauté for a minute.
6. Add tomato ketchup and ¼ cup water and mix well. Reduce heat, add bell peppers and capsicum and mix well. Add fried meatballs andtoss to mix.
7. Add remaining soy sauce and crushed peppercorns and toss to mix. Add vinegar and toss to mix and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add honey and spring onion greens and toss to mix.
8. Serve hot garnished with some bell pepper curls.
Preparation Time: 10-12 minutes
Cooking Time: 12-15 minutes
